What does "token" mean in this context?

tuliouel (talk)13:56, 10 January 2013

A "token" is an internal string that is used for communication, security, identification etc. See the English Wikipedia articles Security token.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)14:00, 10 January 2013

Can/should we FAQ or glossary this?

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)14:55, 16 January 2013

The string description was already modified and already gives a better idea of the context.

tuliouel (talk)16:59, 16 January 2013

Well, the point is, this is a recurring question, thus "token" with its at least two meanings could possibly be explained in a somewhat generalized way as an aid for the new translators.

Wiki Loves Monuments Mobile doesn't have an official translation for portuguese... or does it? I ask it because I tried to search for it and I didn't find, and portuguese speakers usualli don't translate proper names (noun).

tuliouel (talk)13:49, 10 January 2013

WLM app has been removed on twn.

Is it possible to take a photo NOT using a camera?

tuliouel (talk)14:44, 10 January 2013

Yes. There are phones, tablets, laptops and other devices that do not have a primary function "camera" that have the ability to take pictures.

This message is of the somewhat nonsential "klick here" type needing rewording. See also: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/I18n#Use_meaningful_link_anchors

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)21:11, 15 September 2012

The message contains "click here", but the whole of it is used as link label it seems, isn't this good enough? Please reopen with a better suggestion or more specific complaint.

Nemo (talk)11:20, 16 September 2012

See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/I18n#Use_meaningful_link_anchors - "click here" can be simply omitted. It is both wrong and misguiding.

Heiya, documentation is needed here. Thank you

kgh (talk)19:54, 4 September 2012

I see docs. What's missing?

Nike (talk)09:45, 5 September 2012

At the time I translated this message there was not documentation available. Otherwise I would not have asked for it. Good to have it now.

The English message has a word "compatition". This is most probably "competition"? If it is so, what is the context of the word "competition" in this message?

AnakngAraw (talk)14:02, 15 August 2012

It's competition (aka contest). Already fixed in source control. Will be updated in a few hours.

Siebrand15:46, 15 August 2012

game? Isn't this some kind of competition?

kgh (talk)17:00, 2 August 2012

+1. Game sound very strange to me.

Edit: in french (fr) and in breton (br) the word has been change to equivalents of « competition ».

VIGNERON (talk)09:05, 6 August 2012

Read about '$1' on Wikipedia

What's the context of this message? Wha can be the value of the parameter? Please add to "qqq".

Siebrand23:00, 10 August 2012

game?

Nike (talk)17:56, 2 August 2012

Well, it is a contest with prizes and all.

Shouldn't this use an HTTPS link with &uselang for the signup?

Nemo (talk)08:10, 12 August 2012

It seems that a full stop is missing in the source message.

Meno25 (talk)15:57, 13 August 2012

en.wiki link?! Shouldn't it be Commons at worst?

Nemo (talk)08:06, 12 August 2012

Shouldn't this be ended by a period?

Nemo (talk)08:04, 12 August 2012

Wrong WLMMobile group description

I believe the group description for WLMMobile is wrong, since it seems to use Translate-group-desc-wiktionarymobile ("WiktionaryMobile is a cross-platform mobile and tablet application for reading and contributing to Wiktionary") instead. (See Special:Translate.)

Mormegil (talk)14:11, 6 August 2012

Yep. Niklas was lazy again (he takes pride in that :P). I'll fix it now.

Siebrand15:44, 6 August 2012

Fixed. Fixed.

Siebrand15:52, 6 August 2012

What is the context for this string?

Fitoschido (talk)13:32, 8 August 2012

Updating this to say "Informational HTML text on the settings screen after logging in. $1 is current wiki username."

Here's a screenshot:
