Used as an item in the list in [[Special:ViewConfig]].

Parameters:
* $1 - may be two radio buttons, as in history pages, or empty
* $2 - the time and date of the version
* $3 - a link to the user who made the version, or a text, or empty
* $4 - replaced with zero to several links to that version
* $5 - the comment, as provided by the user, which may be empty
* $6 - the date of the version
* $7 - the time of the version

Format for displaying notifications of a user's edit being reverted. Parameters:
* $1 - the username of the person who reverted, plain text. Can be used for GENDER.
* $2 - the page that was reverted, formatted
* $3 - a diff link which is labeled {{msg-mw|Showdiff}}
* $4 - the number of edits that were reverted. NOTE: This will only be set to 1 or 2, with 2 actually meaning 'an unknown number greater than 0'.
* $5 - Page for reverting user.

Format for displaying notifications of a user talk page being edited with a new section or new comment.

Parameters:
* $1 - the username of the person who edited, plain text. Can be used for GENDER.
* $2 - the username of current user, used in the link to their talk page
* $3 - the section title of the discussion, if any, used in the link to their talk page
* $4 - the raw section title text

Default title for instructor added to course notification. Parameters:
* $1 - the formatted user name (the user name, or hidden if deleted user) of the user who added another user as an instructor to a course
* $2 - can be used for GENDER of user at $1
* $3 - the human-readable name of the course with the term in parentheses

Default title for online volunteer added to course notification. Parameters:
* $1 - the formatted user name (the user name, or hidden if deleted user) of the user who added another user as an online volunteer to a course
* $2 - can be used for GENDER of user at $1
* $3 - the human-readable name of the course with the term in parentheses

Default title for student added to course notification. Parameters:
* $1 - the formatted user name (the user name, or hidden if deleted user) of the user who added another user to a course
* $2 - can be used for GENDER of user at $1
* $3 - the human-readable name of the course with the term in parentheses

Similar to {{msg-mw|timedmedia-ogg-long-error}}. Used as the long description for an ogg media file if there are no streams in the file using a recognized codec. This can be caused by an invalid ogg file, or by one using an obscure type of data (e.g. dirac video with no audio).

Used in [[Special:UserOptionStats]].

"hidden" refers to the options, as in "hidden preferences".

Parameters:
* $1 - list of hidden options (comma-separated, with links)

Used in [[Special:Preferences]], first tab, as one of the selectable options of the {{msg-mw|Yourgender}} prompt. Choosing it indicates that the grammatical gender of the user name is gender neutral or unknown.

This may be appropriately customized for your language. It should sound like a reply to {{msg-mw|yourgender}}.

Text shown above a table containing links to other pages. Asks the user to confirm that the links are correct and should be linked with the current page.
The message string will only be used when there are multiple pages, still it has a count argument so it can use a correct plural parser function.

You can export the text and editing history of a particular page or set of pages wrapped in some XML.
This can be imported into another wiki using MediaWiki via the [[Special:Import|import page]].
