Wikimedia Research would like to map section titles across six languages (ar, en, es, fr, ja, ru) and we have everything set up for it. We're planning on sending an email to Wikipedia users who can help us with this mapping. Our email needs to be in these six languages and that's why we're requesting a new project here. Would it be possible for you to create a project for this purpose?
Are you sure you couldn't do this with a translatable page on Meta?
We don't really "create" projects here, we just register l10n files from project's version control systems to this platform.
When translating Phabricator, pages like Phabricator:phabricator-project-4917eb42b43b64f5/qqq doesn't offer me really much of context, although maybe it's just me.
Having those autolinked to the source code is work-in-progress. I believe there isn't proper human written message documentation unless someone writes it.
Problem is that we can't be expected to provide good translations with bad documentation. I know it is not an issue of you nor from translatewiki.net itself; just feedback that this should be fixed where appropriate.
I'm sympathetic, but Phabricator developers have shown very little interest for a good i18n and what it entails (Nike was even forced to design an entirely new process to suit their non-standard methods and formats), so the alternative would be no i18n at all.
Our hope is that with this collaboration they will learn to appreciate i18n and adopt better practices. If it doesn't happen, at some point we'll need to reconsider...
Hello. Does somebody else see their edit toolbars (to put text in bold or italics, etc.) duplicated when they interact with LQT? I do. Thanks.
PD.: it's the enhaced edit toolbar the one I'm using, if that helps.
MediaWiki now also notifies users if their name is in the "summary" field. https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Community_Tech/Ping_users_from_the_edit_summary
Though, we really don't want to notify the previous author each time we revert a vandalism…
Therefore, the message MediaWiki:Revertpage/en should be updated from:
Reverted edits by $2 (talk) to last revision by $1
Reverted edits by $2 (talk) to last revision by $1
This is currently discussed on Phabricator: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T189819

The contributor who translated the months March and April into isiZulu (ZU) for MediaWiki in November 2012 switched the two, and hasn't been active since. Nor are there any other translators active in ZU. Yesterday I joined up here and made those two corrections - but with no one to review them, through what process will the changes be accepted and activated? I didn't find the answer in the FAQs. Meanwhile all ZUWP activity this month is being dated for April. What happens next?
I updated the logo on nds-nl.wikipedia about a month ago, but the logo has not changed since I updated it on File:Wiki.png like it used to, does anyone know if something has changed, or does it just take longer to become visible? (I know this has nothing to do with translating the interface, but didn't know where else to post this question.)
Can someone check User:Acamicamacaraca. I think he is sock puppet. If he is, I recommend to block Ip Acamicamacaraca from creating new accouts.
Why: Him comment on previous section is really weird.
There is message group called "Wikimedia Mobile Apps" although the Translation page was moved to "Wikimedia Mobile" name. So the name of the message group need to change from Wikimedia Mobile Apps to Wikimedia Mobile.
I see many Javanese messages with inconsistency on the spelling. I find it is tiring and boring to correct them one by one. Can I use bot here for correcting Javanese incorrect spelling? I've listed some standard terms here.
Yes. You can. Open new account for bot and request bot flag.
I see some people have copied some templates from English Wikipedia here. I am not following this process – all requests should be made here on this Support page.
If someone wants to change the process, I am not opposed, but that should be done properly by adding that to Succession_plan#Translator_liaison, for example, and picking up on that role :)
Hi, there would be someone who could help me, I have as a project a | new Wikipedia that is in the incubator of Wikimedia and I want to know what to do on this site with regard to my language, because I have already created the portal of the language but I don't know what to do after...?!
- Language code: qwh
- Language name: Huaylas Ancash Quechua – Huaylay
- Direction: LTR
- Script: Latin
- Fallback: Spanish (es)
The Huaylas Ancash Quechua is a language diferentes than Quechua . Quechua is not a only language , Quechua is a macrolanguage , Ayacucho Quechua is different than Cajamarca Quechua and is different than Huaylas Quechua Example: A.Q Punchaw = day H.Q Hanaq = day C.Q P'unchaw = day Ayacucho Quechua is similar to Cusco Quechua for those languages there is an only alphabet Example Mariaq = Maria's Mariap = Maria's Southern Quechua Alphabet Mariap = Maria's Other example : A.Q Ñuqanchik C.Q Nuqanchik
En = We( inclusive)
