Add GENDER support to Moderation log actions

Could you please add GENDER support to log events used by the "Moderation" extension? For example, MediaWiki:Logentry-moderation-reject/en and MediaWiki:Logentry-moderation-block/en.

The documentation says these messages do support GENDER, but the translation interface does not accept it (it says that $2 is an unknown parameter).

Thanks.

Will be added on the next update from repository (already fixed there).

Great, thanks!

Request: Enabling Kaqchikel

Sending a request to add the Kaqchikel language. It currently is in the incubator:

https://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/cak/Nab%27ey_wuj

and a part of activities leading up to an edit-a-thon will be to begin the translation process:

https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid/Kaqchikel_Wikiwuj,_editathon_and_leadership/capacity_building

There are native Kaqchikel speakers available and willing to participate in this process.

Thank you,

Eddie

We need the following information:

  • A language code from ISO 639-3 or the Ethnologue website (for example 'de')
  • The language name in English and in its own language (for example 'German – Deutsch (de)')
  • Is the language RTL or LTR (written from right to left or left to right)
  • If the language is commonly written in more than one script, please say in which script the language should be enabled. Other variants can be enabled as and when translators for those variants volunteer.
  • Should the language fall back to another language other than English? If so which?

Google cannot search translations in translatewiki

In the past, Google can search translations in translatewiki, but now Google cannot search them, the problem archived here is re-opened. Could you enable Google to search the translations?

07:43, 29 May 2018

This is not in my control. I do submit sitemaps to Google, but it is up to them if they want to index the pages (lately they don't seem to do it).

Enable Southern Uzbek (uzs) for translation

Edited by another user.
Last edit: 13:34, 7 June 2018

Please add the Southern Uzbek Language (uzs), which is written in the Perso-Arabic letters of the Arabic writing system to the list of translation languages.

14:35, 6 June 2018

More informations needed:

  1. Autonym (i.e. how do you call that language in that language?)
  2. Fallback to which language(s)? Or just translate from English?
13:39, 7 June 2018

1. Is is called "اوزبیک تورکچه" (Spelled "Uzbek Turkcha" in English) 2. Fallback can be Persian (fa)

05:18, 8 June 2018

It looks that this is enabled as uzs-arab.

Words to put the photo on the right and put on the left

I was not helped here. Please tell me where to translate this.

20:21, 7 June 2018

Because of this problem, we have to write these words in English or Russian.

Hello, could anybody please add a documentation for this message? (and particularly, what does %1$s refer to?) Thanks.

22:12, 4 June 2018

Hi Guycn2, requests of this kind should be submitted on Phabricator. You'll need to create an account there. For this one, I have already created T196441.

09:14, 5 June 2018

OK, thanks.

Confused a little bit

I have been contributing a little bit. I was wondering if a local wikipedia project's wikimedia messages would be localised if I translate the messages from here. -Glacious (talk)

05:01, 5 June 2018

I would say, but can you give an example of a such message so that I know what you mean exactly.

08:36, 5 June 2018

English message here on translate wiki and the one I translated. The message here on our local wiki.

09:45, 5 June 2018

Yes, wait a day and it should appear in your wiki.

Consider converting this site to use RemexHTML?

By looking out phab:T187181, it looks like this site is also having a lot of Tidy-era tabel formations, how are they still maintainable now?

08:37, 5 June 2018

What do you mean with maintainable? We are already using RemexHTML because that is the default value now.

If something is broken, it is of course desirable that it gets fixed.

Mass copy translations

Hello. On the ProofreadPage extension I submitted a change to create 5 new system messages, named "MediaWiki:Proofreadpage qualityX summary" where X = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4. The meaning of these new messages is similar to the old "MediaWiki:Proofreadpage qualityX category" messages, so most sites will want to reuse the same message, however some languages need a separate message so they can provide a better translation.

Before we release that change, is it possibile to mass-copy the old "category" messages into the new "summary" messages? And, can the new messages be marked as being "in need of review", so that translators will notice them and change them if needed?

Example: MediaWiki:Proofreadpage quality1 category/it should be copied on MediaWiki:Proofreadpage quality1 summary/it.

Thank you very much.

Solution for different translation in zh-HK and zh-TW

There are some translations of words are different in zh-HK (Hong Kong dialect) and zh-TW (Taiwan dialect). But these two languages fallback to zh-hant. What is the best way to solve this problem?

11:40, 17 April 2018

Actually, we can translate messages to zh-hk, but as far as I've asked in phab:T170836, there's collaboration problems that no repositories can update their zh-hk messages, need more suggestions on this problem.

15:55, 21 April 2018

Now we can translate to zh-HK, right?

06:45, 3 June 2018

zh-HK is enabled yes. Only messages that require different translations should be translated.

Could you point out where the i18n files are in https://github.com/mazi-project/portal/? With quick search I only found config.yaml, but i18n strings should be separated from other configuration.

16:28, 20 December 2017

You can find the i18n strings in the locales/ folder https://github.com/mazi-project/portal/tree/master/locales.

We have prepared the en file for english and the el file (Greek) for testing, translated directly from google translate.

Thanks a lot for your support

        version-message-1: "This Portal is "
        version-message-2: "commits` behind."

Can you use variables? We call these lego messages and they are problematic for proper translations.

      framadate-tab:
        subheader1: "Description"
paragraph1: "Framadate is an open-source and free application like Doodle. It’s easy to create an appointment or a survey without registration to invite your collaborations."
paragraph2: "Here is how to works"
        paragraph3: ""
        paragraph4: ""
        paragraph5: ""
        paragraph6: ""

Can the empty message be filled or removed?

Please also start adding message documentation.

13:30, 29 December 2017

OK we edited the lego messages we had and we now use variables instead.

We also filled the empty messages.

Regarding the message documentation, it is not clear to us what exactly we are supposed to do. Could we have some examples of code to check? Should we create a separate documentation page? Or it is something we can do as soon as have the MAZI project integrated in translatewiki page?

Thank you for supporting us.

15:30, 8 January 2018

Hi,

could you help us proceed with the integration of the MAZI portal in TranslateWiki?

Which is the next step?
