Golden rule: number in running text, *always* use plural.

{{PLURAL|one= See the %{count} community that features this page. }}

Siebrand22:46, 3 June 2011

Fixed. Thanks.

Siebrand23:30, 3 June 2011

Message name contains space. It's creates problem with using referring it with msg type of templates. Will be good idea to check other EOL messages for same problem.

EugeneZelenko13:50, 8 June 2011

This should be fixed, though I'm not sure the fix was pulled yet; we're aware of the problem (it was in several places for the most recent update), and will avoid it in the future.

Jrice17:55, 17 June 2011

Has been updated.

Siebrand21:54, 18 June 2011

Typo: it's -> its

Siebrand21:52, 18 June 2011

Argh.  :)

Thanks, fixed; will be available for the next sync (there were actually quite a few of these it's/its problems).

Jrice17:49, 20 June 2011

Thanks for fixing!

Siebrand00:11, 22 June 2011

The message website-item was added to your recently collected items ("1=Item was added to your Recently Collected items") has some strange capitalizations. Shall we keep them in translations? --Purodha Blissenbach

03:35, 11 July 2011

Decide whatever you like, but I suggest you keep it at least consistent in your own language. "Recently Collected" is a concept in Encyclopedia of Life.

Siebrand13:35, 2 August 2011

typo: "to have problem" → "to have a problem"

kgh20:31, 8 September 2011

Thanks. (This also needed a comma.)

Jrice15:10, 9 September 2011

Lucky me. + EOL getting better by the edit :)

kgh15:12, 9 September 2011

'Never ever' or 'never been'?

Anakmalaysia07:01, 25 August 2011

I mean, can you illustrate where is this Never used? Please attend ASAP.

Anakmalaysia03:34, 5 September 2011

This is in regards to the frequency at which the user will receive email. Thus, this case, it means "never, ever".

Jrice14:14, 9 September 2011

Thanks. Documented.

Siebrand14:58, 9 September 2011

I should mention that I evaluate every question asked here and add an explanation to the qqq.yml file, if I feel clarification is actually warranted (as in this case).

Jrice15:02, 9 September 2011

Ah. I'm doing the same thing here (and those should end up in the "qqq" file too. You can do it too: EOL:Website-never/qqq.

Siebrand15:10, 9 September 2011

Should this 'all' be translated or left as it is? It looks kinda like a command.

Anakmalaysia13:10, 3 September 2011

The "all" should NOT be translated, it is a command used by the API.

Jrice15:01, 9 September 2011

Thanks. Documented.

Siebrand15:09, 9 September 2011

typo: any classifications → any of the classifications Cheers

kgh22:14, 3 September 2011

That's not a typo, that's valid grammar, but for clarification, I will make the change.

Oops, I must already have been asleep. However, I am sure that the change would add something. Cheers

kgh15:08, 9 September 2011

Hmm ... clade. This does not seem to fit? What is conveyed with this message? Cheers

kgh21:16, 6 September 2011

This key is no longer required. Removed.

Jrice15:06, 9 September 2011

We like more clean files. Thanks.

Siebrand15:07, 9 September 2011

Website-errors.messages.too short ("1=is too short (minimum is %{count} characters)")

Should support plural.

Siebrand13:39, 28 August 2011

Done. It's supremely annoying that I have to submit this form twice because the forum wants me to do math _the second time_. If it needs it, it would be time-saving to just ask the first time around.

Jrice14:58, 9 September 2011

I'll give you some rights that will no longer require you to wait until you are what MediaWiki calls "autoconfirmed".

Siebrand14:59, 9 September 2011

Done Done And thanks :).

Siebrand15:01, 9 September 2011

Supremely helpful. Thank you.

Jrice15:06, 9 September 2011

Website-errors.messages.too long ("1=is too long (maximum is %{count} characters)")

Should support plural.

Siebrand13:38, 28 August 2011

Jrice14:57, 9 September 2011

Thank you!

Siebrand15:01, 9 September 2011

Website-errors.messages.wrong length ("1=is the wrong length (should be %{count} characters)")

Should support plural.

Siebrand14:59, 9 September 2011

Which strings do %{linka} and %{linkb} refer to?

Anakmalaysia07:36, 20 August 2011

I believe this key has been removed.

Jrice12:56, 25 August 2011

Does this mean twice every month or every two months?

Siebrand17:13, 21 August 2011

Twice a month.

Jrice12:50, 25 August 2011

Is this an infinitive or imperative verb phrase?

Anakmalaysia04:07, 19 August 2011

This key will be removed in the next version. Sorry.

A thread, Thread:Support/About MediaWiki:Moodbar-privacy/en (2), was moved from here to Translating talk:MediaWiki. This move was made by Lloffiwr (talk | contribs) on 8 September 2011 at 21:39.

Can anyone explain to me what "wants" in this context means?

Anakmalaysia07:19, 20 August 2011

Heh. Its sounds bad, doesn't it?

This is a column header indicating the level of curation ability that a user wants ('full' and 'master' are the possible values in the table. This does not need to be incredibly clear--it is only seen by admins. Please keep it as short as possible.

(I've added this information to the translation files. Thanks.)

Jrice12:55, 25 August 2011

Can someone explain what this is about, and give me an example of how this string would be produced on the site?

Anakmalaysia08:24, 20 August 2011

These keys have all changed (there is a family of them), but I shall add descriptions to the translation files.

Where "rank" is one of the variables, they resolve in formats similar to this: "Species recognized by Integrated Taxonomic Information System:" or "Integrated Taxonomic Information System as a Taxon". In the latter case, this entry would be seen as a paragraph under a header named "Recognized by". These can get more complex, as occasionally the values are created with Rails' #to_sentence method. Thus, you can end up with "The Integrated Taxonomic Information System and T Orrell (custodian) in Catalogue of Life as a Taxon", where the "and" was inserted between two values for the "recognized_by" variable. These do not need to read with prefect grammar, as they are meant to be citations and not flowing speech.

Hope that helps.

Jrice13:11, 25 August 2011

Typo: "visibile" should be "visible".

Same typo in EOL:Website-activity_user_showed_unknown_object/en

McDutchie23:58, 15 August 2011

This will be fixed with the next pull (probably next week). Thanks.

I don't understand if this means a single person that records something or a company (like record company).

GoEThe15:43, 5 September 2011

'Recorder' in this case is meant to be a person or company which …created a recording of a sound... such as someone who made a field recording of, say, a wolf howl.
