What is %{comment} and what values can it take?

Jean-Fred (talk)22:28, 29 October 2011

This key doesn't appear to be used anymore.

Jrice (talk)19:35, 15 December 2011

Context for this message is needed. Thank you

kgh (talk)12:33, 13 December 2011

This is a table column heading where the cells in the column represent the response provided by a …user when answering a survey question.

I've added this to the ancillary information for the key.

Jrice (talk)19:20, 15 December 2011

I am not sure about the meaning of the message. Can you help me, pleae? Thanks!

Toliño Fala aquí comigo 14:15, 12 December 2011

A 'Harvest Event' is the record of when data was imported for a resource (which is a collection of species information), so the term is meant to capture the sense of data being 'harvested' in a single 'event' in time.

(I've added this to the ancillary information for this key.)

Jrice (talk)19:17, 15 December 2011

typo: hav → have

kgh (talk)20:10, 8 December 2011

Thanks for catching; fixed.

Jrice (talk)19:08, 15 December 2011

avg? Context needed. Thank you and cheers

kgh (talk)21:58, 2 December 2011

Another complex condition, I'll update the extra info to attempt to explain it (and the other keys in the same context)...

Namely, these are table column headings, and the "avg" is meant to represent "average", because we're counting the number of common names that occurred, on average, for a search term within a given date range.

Jrice (talk)19:07, 15 December 2011

{3-4 mins.} is a bit strange. % might be missin in front. Any comments? Thank you and cheers

kgh (talk)21:48, 2 December 2011

Hmmmn, this is an awkward concept. Best I could do was to update it to:

"Click on an activity to see any other activities that occured within a five minute window."
Jrice (talk)19:01, 15 December 2011

Add new tag suggestion

Capital usage seems to be atypical in this message.

Siebrand18:11, 1 December 2011

Correct; fixed.

Jrice (talk)18:56, 15 December 2011

{{PLURAL|one=An invitation was sent to %{users}.|Invitations were sent to %{users}.}}

Should use plural.

Siebrand13:05, 21 November 2011

Quite so. Fixed.

Jrice (talk)18:53, 15 December 2011

This sentence is not a question and should not end with a question mark. Or, if it needs to be a question, it should be rephrased accordingly.

McDutchie (talk)13:26, 14 November 2011

Indeed. Punctuation superfluous; removed.

Jrice (talk)18:50, 15 December 2011

Context needed.

Siebrand01:14, 8 November 2011

Removed the key.

Jrice (talk)18:48, 15 December 2011

Has typo.

Sorry, an error occurred, the hierarchy was not updated.

Siebrand01:10, 8 November 2011

Fixed, thanks.

"Sorry, an error occurred, the hierarchy was not updated."

Jrice (talk)18:45, 15 December 2011

Is this possible?

Is it possible to do this?

Toliño Fala aquí comigo 14:27, 26 October 2011

Please elaborate, because I have no idea what I should see in that diff.

Siebrand10:30, 27 October 2011

I've translated the text "Encyclopedia of Life" within the <abbr title> tag.

Toliño Fala aquí comigo 15:32, 27 October 2011

Of course. You did it, didn't you? :)

Siebrand23:37, 28 October 2011

Hi, what is a "named route" this message is referring to? Cheers

kgh18:47, 16 September 2011

It's a Rails-specific term which means that in order for a URL like "" to work, "some_route" needs to be defined in one of the hard-coded config files.

So, essentially, it's a URL route with a specific name.

Jrice20:38, 6 October 2011

Ah, now I understand. I have added a /qqq for other translators. However I would like to suggest avoiding such special terms since only coders if at all will understand them right away. Cheers

kgh21:03, 6 October 2011

May I know what languages does the user of are fluent in? For now, I add "in English only" in my translation.

Anakmalaysia16:17, 26 September 2011

That's reasonable for now, thanks. It so happens that Eli is fluent in several languages, but I don't think it's actually appropriate to specify the others just yet. ...That email link should really be updated to something less specific, so if (for example) Eli is on vacation, it should be expected that it will be received and that the receiver shall be fluent in English.

Jrice20:44, 6 October 2011

What does this 'authority' refer to?

Anakmalaysia16:00, 12 September 2011

Unknown; good question. I'll see if I can find an authoritative (hah) answer.

In the meantime, I'll just say that this /probably/ means that a name (which "Authority" awkwardly describes here) comes from the source that created the synonym in the first place, and should be considered authoritative. So I suppose you might say this 'authority' refers to 'the original source of this name'.

This is one of those words that comes from our content partners and thus we /cannot/ change it, so we sort of have to "make do" with translating it as best we can. Sorry.

Jrice13:20, 14 September 2011

Phrased with "I". It's awkward when software is self-aware :).

Siebrand00:42, 12 September 2011

We are assembling "copy guidelines" that should help avoid problems like this, moving forward.

Jrice13:17, 14 September 2011

Uses "I" as if software is self-aware.

Siebrand00:44, 12 September 2011

Changed. I for one welcome the coming of our robotic overlords, however.

Jrice13:16, 14 September 2011

Hmm ...

kgh17:23, 12 September 2011

Indeed. These are options for the API and must be in English (AFAIK), so I've removed them from translation. Sorry/thanks for pointing out.

Jrice12:59, 14 September 2011

Golden rule: number in running text, *always* use plural.

{{PLURAL|one=See the %{count} community that features this page.}}

Siebrand22:46, 3 June 2011

Fixed. Thanks.

Siebrand23:30, 3 June 2011

Message name contains space. It's creates problem with using referring it with msg type of templates. Will be good idea to check other EOL messages for same problem.

EugeneZelenko13:50, 8 June 2011

This should be fixed, though I'm not sure the fix was pulled yet; we're aware of the problem (it was in several places for the most recent update), and will avoid it in the future.

Jrice17:55, 17 June 2011

Has been updated.
