Should this message end with a full stop?

Siebrand23:00, 17 December 2012

Yes. Added. Thanks.

Jrice (talk)13:15, 19 December 2012

Need some context here... What is a token in this particular case?

Wouterkoch (talk)13:42, 13 November 2012

It's the name of an attribute on the open_authentication model (as are all of the records under activerecord.attributes). It would only be used in, say, a table or error message saying something is wrong with the entered value for that attribute. In this case, the token is a (random-looking) string used to authenticate against a key.

See the previous comment; I have the same reservations about this.

Jrice (talk)17:39, 27 November 2012

I see, thanks!

Wouterkoch (talk)15:14, 10 December 2012

Is this a patchwork message? %{title} at the beginning could be the last word of a previous sentence...

In any case, please document context.

Siebrand19:35, 3 December 2012

Nope. Added to qqq:

This is a citation (as one might find in a bibliography), and the format should follow standards for bibliographic citations of websites. You may need to do some research to find out what that format is in your language.

Jrice (talk)15:24, 5 December 2012

Please provide context and document variable.

Siebrand19:34, 3 December 2012

The user was presented with a button (see add_education_resources_to_page_link_button) allowing them to contribute information about educational resources related to a taxon. This 'sentence' appears after that button, allowing them to email EOL staff with their suggestion instead. The 'link' thus contains a clickable email address.

(Added to qqq)

Jrice (talk)15:22, 5 December 2012

Please provide context.

Siebrand19:33, 3 December 2012

This is a 'popup' style dialog (with a lot of markup) where the user is first presented with a form asking if she wants to make a new collection to add an item to, then given this message, followed by a list of her existing collections.

(added to qqq; similar for "or_add_it_to_an_existing_community")

Jrice (talk)15:11, 5 December 2012

For consistency, it's probably better to use "Note" instead of "NOTE". I think your convention is also to use "capital after colon".

Siebrand17:50, 3 December 2012

Agree on both counts (though, personally, I may have preferred lowercase after colon; you're right it's more common now). Changed this one (and a few others).

Jrice (talk)15:11, 5 December 2012

Message has double full stop. Should probably be one.

Siebrand15:02, 3 December 2012

Indeed. Fixed, thanks.

Jrice (talk)15:06, 5 December 2012

Adjective or noun?

Wouterkoch (talk)13:35, 13 November 2012

Noun. I'm slightly frustrated that this is even in the file; no one will ever see this (maybe an admin, someday).  :| But this is the "secret token" attribute on the open_authentication model.

Jrice (talk)17:37, 27 November 2012

Is this a patchwork message? (date parameter at the end missing or something?)

Siebrand09:54, 11 November 2012

Yes. Thanks. Fixed (and renamed to filed_under_label_with_date to avoid argument errors in older translation files).

Jrice (talk)17:34, 27 November 2012

I found "." after "translations". It may be "?".

아라다 알아 (talk)15:19, 3 October 2012

Correct. Fixed. Thanks.

Jrice (talk)17:00, 8 November 2012

Time messages

There are some interface messages related to time (such as "11 months", "2 hours", "5 minutes") which are not available for translation. Is it a problem to add support for them?

Toliño Fala aquí comigo 18:54, 13 September 2012

Sorry, could you give specific examples, please?

Jrice (talk)16:36, 17 September 2012

Just look at the "Community Activity" section in the Main Page. The log entries indicate things like: "about 1 hour ago". As the "ago" part of the message is set for translation, for example, in Galician it appears "hai about 1 hour" instead of "hai aproximadamente 1 hora".

Toliño Fala aquí comigo 22:19, 17 September 2012

TWN has chosen not to translate those parts of the code that are already translated through the Rails i18n system itself; this is one of those messages. I suspect that support for Galician may be weak on that project. If you're motivated to do so, you could help via the git codebase directly:

Jrice (talk)14:08, 10 October 2012

typo: "with an" → "with another"

[[kgh]] (talk)19:03, 24 September 2012

Not incorrect, but certainly awkward.  :) Thanks, I've improved it as you've suggested.

Jrice (talk)14:10, 10 October 2012

I see. :) These foreigners. ;)

[[kgh]] (talk)21:05, 10 October 2012

typo: "added link" → "added a link"

[[kgh]] (talk)19:20, 24 September 2012

Yup, thanks again.

Jrice (talk)14:12, 10 October 2012

I seem to mistake 'See all', it may be correct 'See the'.

아라다 알아 (talk)14:35, 17 September 2012

It might be correct: "see all [the] updates" as opposed to "see [some of] the updates" (in the overview or whatever).

Nemo (talk)14:52, 17 September 2012

The singular was incorrect, if that's what you're saying. I've changed it to:

one: "See the %{count} update for this page."

(It so happens that this message is never shown if the count is 1, but TWN requires the "one" translation to exist in all pluralization cases, regardless.)

Jrice (talk)17:10, 17 September 2012

About EOL:Website-association (blank) for taxa/en

아라다 알아 (talk)12:47, 13 September 2012

I'm not sure what you're saying here, but these do need (and already have) pluralization. Adjectives can be modified by plurals in some languages.

Jrice (talk)17:07, 17 September 2012

Two typos? "perserving" and "ration".

Siebrand22:19, 2 September 2012

Correct and fixed in both cases, thanks.

Jrice (talk)16:35, 17 September 2012

Is this with or without number?

Nike (talk)21:37, 2 September 2012

This is the title of a tab. It does not need pluralization (meaning: it should always be plural).

(Added to qqq)

Jrice (talk)16:35, 17 September 2012

Needs context. Is this from the noun (something one can do) or adjective (how active something is)?

Nike (talk)21:40, 2 September 2012
This is only used in the admin interface and refers to user activity (ie: actions that users take).
