About this message:

"WHOIS" should be "Whois" for consistency with the following message:

  • Ip no whois ("WHOIS information for {VAR: ip} is not available.")
Shirayuki (talk)10:16, 21 February 2013

Fixed. Fixed.

Post err attach size should use PLURAL

Post err attach size ("File Attachment is too big (over allowed limit of {VAR: MAX_F_SIZE} bytes)")

This message should use PLURAL for MAX_F_SIZE.

EugeneZelenko14:08, 14 September 2010

You can use plural for any message in FUDforum.

Siebrand15:08, 14 September 2010

Where is this string placed: before or after the number of views?

Anakmalaysia (talk)03:48, 29 January 2012

Above it. This is a column heading.

Frank (talk)07:08, 29 January 2012

Please import latest messages

Can you guys please import the latest FUDforum messages from SVN to TranslateWiki? We have a couple of minor, but important messages that must be translated before we can release FUDforum 3.0.3RC1.

Frank11:52, 15 June 2011

Done Done

Siebrand13:13, 15 June 2011

Excellent! Thank you very much Siebrand.

Frank15:45, 15 June 2011

Which scheme the time format chars use here?

Nike06:49, 25 April 2011

Unable to translate without knowing what the variables are.

Nike06:54, 25 April 2011

Message was documented.

Best regards.

Frank09:28, 25 April 2011

Thank you. Screenshots are also allowed and useful :)

Word inconsistency

Fudforum uses both words account and login to refer user accounts. For consistency and to not confuse translators only one term should be used.

Nike06:57, 25 April 2011

I'm sure we can do it. Shall we go for "account" or for "login"?

Best regards.

Frank08:22, 25 April 2011

account, please (although I like user[name] best).

Siebrand08:54, 25 April 2011

What is the context of "on" here?

Anakmalaysia13:03, 9 April 2011

By user on date. For example: by admin on 23 April 2011.

Best regards.

Frank06:26, 23 April 2011

Thanks for documenting it.

Please consider changing this message to include 2 parameters (user and timestamp).

Siebrand07:54, 23 April 2011

{{msg-fud|Register custom avatar rules|notext=yes}} should use PLURAL

This message should use PLURAL.

EugeneZelenko14:13, 9 July 2010

I agree, it should. Unfortunately FUDforum's plural function cannot handle global variables just yet.

Best regards.

Frank07:17, 23 April 2011

Can someone please provide a link to the tl version of this website?

AnakngAraw20:22, 22 April 2011

We will add TL to It will, however, take a week or two for everything to filter through.

Keep it up and thanks for your hard work!

Best regards.

Frank07:12, 23 April 2011

Is the parameter {VAR: referals} a number in this case?

Anakmalaysia07:21, 9 April 2011

Yes, it's the number of members a user referred to the forum (usually disabled).

Best regards.

Frank06:40, 23 April 2011

Can anyone explain the significance of this message? I mean, what's "Visible" here?

Anakmalaysia12:45, 9 April 2011

This is a permission in the forum's Groups Manager to indicate if a particular user/group of users can see a forum.

Best regards.

Frank06:32, 23 April 2011

I just wanna clarify: Does this 'goto' actually mean 'go to' or is it something else?

Anakmalaysia04:05, 7 April 2011

It should probably be "go to".

Alternatively, "jump to" or "navigate to" will work equally well.

Frank06:06, 23 April 2011

What does this "views" refer to: appearances (representations/what the page looks like) or accesses (pageviews)?

Anakmalaysia04:32, 7 April 2011

It refers to page views.

Best regards.

Frank05:59, 23 April 2011

Login forgot passwd ("Forgot password") Some context would be nice.

Nike08:42, 21 March 2011

This message is shown on the login screen to request a new password. Similar to Europeana:ForgotPassword t/en,, OpenImages:Login.forgot password/en and Mantis:S lost password link/en.

Best regards.

Frank05:54, 23 April 2011

Please include meaning of the message in documentation.

If it's used in time output, it may be useless for countries which uses? for example, 24 hours format. In this case should be optional.

EugeneZelenko15:00, 5 January 2011

Done. Best regards.

Frank16:20, 5 January 2011

{{msg-fud|Page timings|notext=yes}} should use PLURAL

This message should use PLURAL.

EugeneZelenko14:02, 8 June 2010

There's no PLURAL support in FUDforum, unfortunately. Also moving to the FUDforum talk page.

Siebrand23:04, 8 June 2010

Many messages in FUDforum contain {PLURAL:. So I conclude that there is supposed to be some form of plural support.

EugeneZelenko13:54, 9 June 2010

This value will never be 1. So, plural support doesn't make sense (most languages). If you disagree, can simply use the plural function in your translation.

Total time taken to generate the page: {PLURAL: page_gen_time|$1 second|$1 seconds}
Frank15:45, 9 June 2010

It is not true for Slavic languages (on there are many of them). So please don't assume that there is only 1/many cases around. Original message should be fixed.

Mnav no range - decimal point localized?

Re Mnav no range ("You must enter a valid date range. This value can contain a decimal point, (0.12) but it must be greater than zero."): can I assume that the "decimal point" referred to in this message varies by locale, so that it should be translated as "decimal comma" in languages expected to use a decimal comma instead of a decimal point?

McDutchie17:32, 21 July 2010

I'm not aware of any such (more advanced) locale settings in FUDforum. I think it is safer for now to assume the "dot" is the only available option. Will leave this to Frank however for final resolution.

Siebrand17:56, 21 July 2010

The program expects a PHP float. So, it will only accept "decimal points" (irrespective of the locale setting).

Frank16:23, 27 August 2010

Some PLURAL issues

I think Poll day ("day")/Poll days ("days") and Poll hour ("hour")/Poll hours ("hours") should be merged using PLURAL.

EugeneZelenko14:07, 27 August 2010

Unfortunately it won't be possible. These messages are part of a drop down and not associated with a variable. There is nothing to test against.

Frank15:54, 27 August 2010

Thread on PLURAL at Fudforum

Can a staff member look at Thread:Support/Page timings should use PLURAL/reply (8)? There is an unresolved technical issue on optional use of PLURAL. I seem to remember that for MediaWiki original English messages were changed to support PLURAL. The suggestion here is to use PLURAL only in those translated messages that need it. Is there a problem? Either way, we probably need to add a note on PLURAL support for FUDforum to the project page.

Lloffiwr20:47, 7 July 2010

Do all messages in FUDforum support PLURAL without requiring code changes?

Siebrand21:31, 7 July 2010

Yes, you can use PLURAL in any message, even if the English equivalent doesn't use it (no code changes required).

PS: I'll fix FUDforum:Page_timings/en later today.
