Why is this kind of error message needed? The GUI should not make it possible.

Nike09:02, 29 August 2011

This message happens if someone type of the search button (in the search bar) or on return with empty string as search pattern.

Kelson11:26, 2 September 2011

Would it be possible to just "do nothing" if empty search string is given?

Nike13:05, 2 September 2011

You are right. I have removed the string and its usage.

Kelson11:19, 4 September 2011

Indexing as noun or verb?

Nike09:09, 29 August 2011

Not sure of the answer... This is wath is displayed in the progressbar (bottom-right) during the indexing process.

Kelson11:28, 2 September 2011

Then it is a verb. "(The software is currently) Indexing" or building index.

Nike13:09, 2 September 2011

Perhaps adding three dots after the word would clarify it?

Nike13:10, 2 September 2011

done.

Kelson11:12, 4 September 2011

The integrity of what is to be checked? Ui.main.checkIntegrity ("Integrity check")

Purodha Blissenbach14:58, 2 September 2011

of the current ZIM file. It checks if the file is not corrupt.

Kelson11:06, 4 September 2011

This message is not really clear to me. Is it about previous versions (which become unavailable, when purged) or about a list of something of the past, such as a log or an undo-buffer (being trimmed to some date-time) or about the history of purges of some sort? Message Ui.main.purgeHistory ("Purge history")

Purodha Blissenbach14:56, 2 September 2011

This is the same as "Purge history" on Firefox. That means that it clears the navigation history. Consequently Kiwix does not know any more which pages were readed and the arrow buttons are disabled.

Kelson11:04, 4 September 2011

What exactly does "reset" mean in this context? Wipe out, restore to some previous state, reload file, or something else? Ui.main.reload ("Reload Bookmark Set")

Purodha Blissenbach11:14, 2 September 2011

This is reload, English translation was wrong.

Kelson12:20, 2 September 2011

Please fix the input file. We'll take care of the rest.

Siebrand12:25, 2 September 2011

done

Kelson12:29, 2 September 2011

Thanks. I see that you also changed the string in here. Please don't do that, as it disrupts the update and fuzzy process. In this case, your change caused the change in the source file to no longer need importing, which cause the change to not be noticed and I was not given the opportunity to fuzzy on import.

Siebrand13:30, 2 September 2011

OK, I thought to that too late. So I will next time only modify en "en" file in the kiwix svn.

Kelson10:58, 4 September 2011

It may seem as a *silly* question to many, but can these messages be used with wikicode, as in, can I use '' for italics (etc.) or one can use html? Thanks.

Chrisportelli (talk)15:03, 3 September 2011

No, they cannot. This is a client programme, not a (Media)wiki engine.

Siebrand18:45, 3 September 2011

OK :) Thanks for your reply!

Chrisportelli (talk)19:07, 3 September 2011

Will the software do the restarting for the user?

Nike09:05, 29 August 2011

??? Yes, otherwise it would not ask.

Kelson11:26, 2 September 2011

Wee. (just has to express amusement here :P.)

Siebrand12:21, 2 September 2011

Finnish makes difference between tehdä "do something", teettää "make someone do something" and teetättää "make someone to make someone do something" and teetätyttää, teetätätyttää ... you get the idea :)

Nike13:03, 2 September 2011

I still start to get headache ;)

Kelson13:27, 2 September 2011

Isn't "quit and abort" a bit redundant?

Tabulator stops, or tabs you click on, or even another kind of tabs? Ui.main.tabs ("Tabs")

Purodha Blissenbach11:00, 2 September 2011

Tabs you click on: tabs navigation to allow to have many articles open at the same time without having many windows.

Kelson12:21, 2 September 2011

Ui.main.display ("Display") Verb or noun?

Purodha Blissenbach09:10, 2 September 2011

noun, like the third (left two right) menu entry in Firefox.

Kelson11:21, 2 September 2011

Needs context. It's usually better (at least in Finnish) to use the verb as confirmation in questions directed to the user. For example "Do you want to delete this file?" [Delete] [Cancel] is better than [OK] [Cancel].

Nike09:08, 29 August 2011

This is a verb I think. This is used in the title of confirm dialog windows (where you have to answer by yes or no).

Kelson11:35, 2 September 2011

Context? Why in lower case?

Nike09:08, 29 August 2011

This is used for yes/no checkboxes/buttons. I have to think about uppercase the first letter.

Kelson11:33, 2 September 2011

Best split sentence up like this:

An indexing process is currently running. Are you sure you want to quit and abort it now?

Siebrand15:43, 20 August 2011

See already given answer before.

Kelson19:23, 21 August 2011

See other reply ;).

Last edit: 18:13, 20 August 2011

Please split sentence.

An indexing process is currently running. Are you sure you want to quit and abort it now?

Siebrand15:59, 20 August 2011

What is the reason behind that?

What should I do in the code part1 + " " + part2 with part1="An indexing process is currently running." and part2="Are you sure you want to quit and abort it now?" Are you sure this is perfectly portable over all languages?

Why on this string and not the other which also have many sentences?

Kelson19:26, 21 August 2011

I didn't mean split in two messages, I meant make it two sentences :).

Siebrand21:08, 21 August 2011

ZIM should be in capitals.

Siebrand15:42, 20 August 2011

done & commited.

Kelson19:22, 21 August 2011

Word order issue. Please change this to:

Do not display this dialog box anymore.

Siebrand15:58, 20 August 2011

done & commited.

Kelson19:21, 21 August 2011

Please change the second sentence.

Now: Shall I restart ?

Proposed: Restart application?

Siebrand16:01, 20 August 2011

done & commited.

Kelson19:20, 21 August 2011

Please replace "your" with "the". It is not necessarily my file :).

Siebrand16:00, 20 August 2011

done & commited.
