What is $4 and $5?

Macofe (talk)23:09, 26 May 2015
Edited by another user.
Last edit: 14:03, 3 January 2016

According to the code where it's used ( check line 66 & 67 ). $4 = task ID $5 = job type

JadeMaveric (talk)03:42, 1 January 2016

So the final message is something like:

    <job type> Job Failed for <job id>
     Uploading Job Failed for Q583T

I'm not sure what the job id looks like, so that's only a guess

JadeMaveric (talk)04:02, 1 January 2016
  • <task id> not <job id>
JadeMaveric (talk)04:14, 1 January 2016

Any context?

Judging from the code, if useLanguageFallback is set to true, then the 'search program' searches for matches in other languages as well. So if it's set to false, it searches in the default language only. I can't be sure without looking at an instance of the message on the wiki. I'll ask my GCI mentor for help. Hang on...

JadeMaveric (talk)05:19, 1 January 2016

That message is displayed at wbSearchEntities (check the 3rd parameter). So the aforementioned use of the message holds.

JadeMaveric (talk)10:00, 1 January 2016

The term "languages" should, consistently with other messages, be enclosed in </var> tags.

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)09:31, 5 June 2015

In all messages? Wouldn't it be better to add the to messages that only refer to languages as a parameter/value/variable in the code?

JadeMaveric (talk)05:10, 31 December 2015

Yes, that's what he meant.

Documentation needed for $4 and $5?

Macofe (talk)21:28, 28 September 2015

Documentation changed to match [1]

it now reads,

Log entry format for MassAction logs of type jobfailed
$4 is the task id $5 is the job type
<jobtype> Job failed for <taskid> e.g: Upload Job failed for Q45T
JadeMaveric (talk)04:22, 1 January 2016

Shouldn't this refer to a statement rather than a claim. See https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wikidata_statement.svg

Ainali (talk)19:41, 18 December 2014

Nice catch, changed the statement to: Remove reference with hash "455481eeac76e6a8af71a6b493c073d54788e7e9" from statement with GUID of "Q42$D8404CDA-25E4-4334-AF13-A3290BCD9C0F"

What is $1?

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)08:30, 21 August 2015

https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T110327#1800761 tells me that we created a separate right called 'newsletter-delete', 'newsletter-create' and 'newsletter-manage'.

01tonythomas (talk)16:30, 30 December 2015

Can both have PLURAL support?

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)00:17, 26 December 2015

Can we use GENDER for $2? --Geraki (talk) 13:34, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Geraki (talk)13:34, 26 August 2014

Not at the moment, it uses .plain(). Would you need to?

Tgr (talk)07:02, 11 December 2014

Actually, yes, for some langueges (at least for greek) it is needed.

Geraki (talk)15:09, 11 December 2014

Unfortunately the task above has been declined, which IMO can be documented as "impossible".

Really, the documentation is too ugly for me to l10n it better.

This sentense shows me two opinion, both need rewording:

  1. The rendered mathematical expression $1 which last edited by User $2 on $3, therefore $2 needs GENDER support
  2. The mathematical expression $1, which has rendered as $2 style during last edited on $3

And both opinions need date and time separated.

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)02:42, 6 December 2015

Or maybe it just missed some commas? "You are evaluating mathematical expression $1, rendered as $2, last edited on $3?"

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)02:47, 6 December 2015

This translation shows up here, but the message doesn't seem to be translateable any longer. Why? I'd like to improve this translation.

Pikne05:30, 10 September 2015

The whole datatypes message group seems to be gone.

I also note that messages for phab:diffusion/ETMH/browse/master/MwEmbedModules/ are no longer translateable here.

Pikne07:51, 21 September 2015

Seems that message group for EmbedPlayer is back here and translations are again being committed after 4 months break.

Datatypes and TimedText on the other hand are still missing.

Pikne08:09, 27 September 2015

Raymond, can you fix this?

Pikne17:57, 10 December 2015

Typo: and other wikis that use mathematics

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)02:49, 6 December 2015

Typo on GENDER support: {{GENDER:$5|you}} not three "}"

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)11:55, 5 December 2015

If "$1" is a number (and not a link), why brackets? Besides, it could user PLURAL.

Macofe (talk)00:08, 9 November 2015

The message documentation was not correct and has now been rectified. As a matter of fact "$1" contains a string. See also the supplemental screenshot. Thanks for the valuable pointer!

Message documenation does not make sense to me. Incomplete sentence?

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)10:43, 4 December 2015

Does this form really have both "save" and "upload" at the same time? This is a problem because in Finnish those are usually translated with the same word. I would like to see screenshot of the dialog or try it out to figure out a proper translation.

Nike (talk)08:52, 21 August 2015

Its a muti-step form in the form of an OO.ui.ProcessDialog. In the first step you select and upload a file and in the second step you fill out metadata and save the file. The second button could be called "Finalize", but it sounds technical so I avoided it. I am open to suggestions.

Prtksxna (talk)13:26, 3 September 2015

Thanks for the screenshots. They will be useful in the message documentation.

Nike (talk)08:07, 2 December 2015

While I understan "WMFy", I doubt, average newbies will.

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)17:27, 1 December 2015

Is this new word (Radicals) too chemical?
