This message and its context are not translateable. It is apprantly followed by a langauge name. The name needs to be converted into a parameter which can appear inside the message. Alternatively, another message was needed to follow the language name.

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)00:07, 25 December 2012

An Android application for Wikisource based on Wikipedia one have been written and the code is pretty ready for a first publication in Google Play. Can this app be supported by Translatewiki as it has been done for Wikipedia and Wiktionary ones ?

The i18n files are here and use the same format as the Wikipedia app. The translation based have been taken in order to don't restart translation from scratch. Messages that need to be changed ("sitename", "appname", "appname-beta", "search-hintwiki", "menu-home" and "search-button") have been automatically updated (by changing the name of the Wikipedia to the name of the Wikisource) or deleted. A proofreading of these automatically updated messages is needed because their might be some errors. Is it possible to tag this messages as "need review" in Translatewiki when the integration will be done ?

Tpt (talk)19:09, 25 October 2012

You can't force proofreading that way, but they will show up in the proofreading more as usual. If you want mandatory proofreading better not to prefill and let translators use translation memory.

Expect some delays, since the language engineering team is traveling to India.

Nike (talk)19:31, 1 November 2012

Support added. Support added.

Siebrand20:48, 4 December 2012

I've disabled support again, because I don't have direct push access to GitHub's WikisourceMobile repo.

Siebrand12:29, 8 December 2012

Sorry to answer so late. I believed that, as member of the team of the Wikimedia repository, you have the right to push directly. Have you used the Wikimedia repository and not my own repository?

Tpt (talk)18:19, 8 December 2012

Q: Have you used the Wikimedia repository and not my own repository? A: Yes.

Siebrand18:44, 8 December 2012

tFinc has just given you the right. Sorry for having answer so late. Can you re-enable support, please?

Tpt (talk)19:49, 14 December 2012

Please document. At least whether verb or noun and what kind of output.

Nike (talk)21:45, 16 December 2012

"Mail" should be "mail" or better "e-mail":

Nemo (talk)20:42, 6 December 2012

Not yet fixed, because I found out I do not have push access to the repo. I've disabled the product until that's done, and will then revisit this issue.

Template fix needed

{{Project subtitle|id=out-wikipedia-mobile-0-all|ns=1206}} , In this template the current id is invalid, there are two wikipedia mobile app groups (phonegap and J2ME) and one wikimedia mobile apps group. I don't know which one should be linked to this project. can anybody fix this?

shanmugam (talk)15:46, 22 November 2012

Hello, I changed the p to m, this should be the name for the aggregate group which contains the others. The namespace is always Wikimedia, shared also with other groups.

There's no complete list of all the apps with clear descriptions anywhere, so I'm often a bit confused myself: please check, and thanks for the report. :)

Nemo (talk)17:09, 22 November 2012

Now its fine, Thanks Nemo :)

shanmugam (talk)04:48, 23 November 2012

Is this synonymous to "Language Group" or the "Language Setting"? Please clarify. Thanks.

About Wikipedia Mobile J2ME

Many messages of Wikipedia Mobile J2ME are documented with the source text itself, an "Identical" template, or nothing at all. Please complete message documentation. Guidelines are at mw:i18n#Message_documentation. Thanks.

See all current and missing documentation in qqq.

Siebrand18:26, 25 August 2012

Clear all saved pages

Please add context to "qqq".

Siebrand23:06, 10 August 2012

Clear history?

Erasing history is a bad thing!

Please add context to "qqq".

The message is "Close read in other languages screen"

Is this shown on the "read in other languages screen" itself or elsewhere? Translation would change slightly depending on that.

PS: Same question for Wikimedia:Mobileapp-nearby-close/en

सिद्धार्थ घई (talk)23:30, 24 March 2012

This is a tooltip on the close button, which may be read aloud when using the screen reader accessibility feature on iOS.

brion (talk)17:05, 19 July 2012

Thanks for the info. Translated the messages accordingly.

Wikipedia Mobile

I've translated everything for Wikipedia Mobile ages ago but it doesn't appear in my language (Nedersaksisch). The menu is still in Dutch, and the error messages are still displayed in Dutch. Did I miss something, or is it just a bug?

Servien (talk)20:28, 13 July 2012

I see it is being exported, so it is something about the application itself.

Nike (talk)09:25, 19 July 2012

UI language follows the phone's system locale, which is probably still Dutch. Not sure if we want to add an override for languages not well supported by Android itself...

brion (talk)17:04, 19 July 2012

I thought so. It would have been nice though if the application itself was in the local language. It's a shame too that the translations have been for nothing.

Servien (talk)20:17, 21 July 2012

Hi! I need a clue what is the "Output" message used for.

Thanks, Mikołka (talk)09:34, 30 January 2012

I don't believe this message is used any longer.

brion (talk)17:08, 19 July 2012

In Mobileapp-settings-language-desc ("MediaWiki:Mobileapp-settings-language-desc/en") I wanted to double-check that the variable $1 will return a localised wiki sitename (not the original English sitename).

Lloffiwr (talk)14:03, 28 December 2011

I have asked Patrick Reilly, developer of this application, for help. He tells me it is the local name.

Siebrand21:30, 12 January 2012

I think it is better to add "to your device" to prevent confusion. Maybe users can think it is possible to edit and save to wiki. Thanks.

Kwj2772 (talk)05:08, 21 December 2011

Niklas, can you please take this up with product management?

"Save page for offline reference" seems better to me, but let's get product management aware of it first. They'll come up with something better, I'm sure...

Siebrand09:51, 23 December 2011

There's not really room for that on the current menu, but we're thinking of moving it into a submenu where there'd be a little more room.

brion (talk)17:46, 23 December 2011

That would be nice. I agree that "save page" also gave me the (initial) impression that it had to do with editing. Maybe find a two word phrase containing "offline"?

  • Take offline
  • Save offline
  • Keep offline
  • <moar ideas?>
Siebrand18:36, 23 December 2011

Hi, is WikipediaMobile capable of fallback-functionality? Cheers

[[kgh]] (talk)12:25, 19 November 2011

It doesn't do all the cross-language fallbacks that MediaWiki does, but it does do some. If you're given the 'pt-br' locale for instance it will load up in order:

  • en (fills out initial base)
  • pt (overrides English with anything present here)
  • pt-br (final overrides)
brion (talk)17:53, 23 December 2011

How can we test this app?

To know how the messages are shown exactly, I want to test and see the app in my Android phone or virtualization software. It seems there isn't deployed in Android Market yet, so should we get the source and build by myself?

aokomoriuta (talk)14:40, 19 November 2011

The source code of the app is here : . If you know git you won't have any problem to build it with the android skd.

Tpt (talk)12:13, 20 December 2011

We now have automatic nightly builds going, you can download the latest at:
