I need your suggestion, please. I thought that, If this source word "translators" was for a label's title, it may be needed to start by capital letter. Several words which follows -iOS-about are in the same line. This can' t be a matter on Japanese version, but I would like to know how you identify those cases to reflect later work.

SkyDaisy9 (talk)12:07, 5 November 2014

I've updated the message documentation. Thank for asking this question.

What is "nearby" intended to be? "Related" articles or "nearby" in a geographical way?

Peg60 (talk)17:55, 11 October 2014

"nearby" in a geographical way

Siebrand18:04, 21 October 2014

"wifi" should be "Wi-Fi".

What is "alpha update" in this string?

Takot (talk)10:29, 20 September 2014

An alpha update is an update from the alpha (or experimental) release channel.

Is there any way of using an SI unit instead? Miles are not used at all by the metric world

Lokal Profil (talk)08:49, 8 September 2014

Closing after Skirayuki added this. Thanks!

u00A0 only working in en (and not in other languages)

When translating Wikimedia:Commons-android-strings-license name cc by/en you get the following message:

CC Attribution License display name. Use the non-breaking space character(u00A0) between 'CC' and 'Attribution'

The problem is, it only works in English. I have my phone set to Swedish, and when uploading a file, i get the message: Denna bild kommer att licensieras under CCu00A0Erkännandeu00A03.0. I changed my phone's language and noticed that the message only displays correctly in English:

en: This image will be licensed under CC Attribution 3.0
da: Billedet vil blive licenseret under CCu00A0Navngivelseu00A03.0
de: Dieses Bild wird lizenziert unter CCu00A0Attributionu00A03.0

It looks as though the '\'-character in the original message doesn't survive the export to translatewiki.

Lokal Profil (talk)12:29, 11 August 2014

Please link the message.

Nike (talk)14:39, 1 August 2014

Shouldn't the descriptive text read "Label that describes color scheme selection" and not "color theme selection"? That's what it says in Wikimedia:Wikipedia-android-strings-menu themechooser/sv.

Jopparn (talk)16:46, 15 July 2014

The license should be written CC BY-SA 3.0. (no "-" between CC and BY-SA). See e.g. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/

Jopparn (talk)16:10, 15 July 2014

Why does this app only show simplified Chinese on my Android phone?

My Android phone language is traditional Chinese.

I mean within the Chinese interface, my phone can only show Simpfield Chinese, not Traditional Chinese.

Any other language is fine.

Message string "Share via" should intend some SNSes come after this string. But Japanese takes an objective __BEFORE__ the word "share" (equivalent). How would this string be shown in the App? It would be helpful if you post a screenshot or something.

Takot (talk)10:15, 20 June 2014

On the right-hand side (on left-to-right interface; see this screenshot) there's a menu for page-specific actions; this menu contains the following options (in the following order):

Tapping on Wikipedia-android-strings-menu share page ("Share link") results in the following dialog:

Wikipedia Android app share2.png

As you can see, the message you asked about is used as a title for this dialog. The icons shown on the menu vary depending on what apps are installed on the device; my Nokia X has Firefox for Mobile and Terminal Emulator installed in addition to the standard preloaded apps, hence why those icons are visible on the above screenshot.

Jack Phoenix (Contact)14:55, 14 July 2014

Thanks for the screenshot! It's really really helpful. Now I could confirm that my previous translation was appropriate. I appreciate you.

Ηi, can I get some context on how the phrase "own-pd" will be used in the mobile app so that I can transate it properly--Auslaender (talk) 13:59, 2 July 2014 (UTC)

In Wikipedia-android-strings-yes ("Yes") what is the question to which the answer is 'Yes'? The translation of the word 'yes' varies according to the question.

Lloffiwr (talk)16:04, 29 June 2014

There are multiple questions (and thus contexts) to which this string can be an answer; the questions are:

Jack Phoenix (Contact)22:03, 1 July 2014

Lloffiwr, this is a severe bug, please file it in bugzilla. You can mention htmlform-yes and htmlform-no as precedent.

Nemo (talk)08:16, 2 July 2014

Reported at Bugzilla on bug 67628.

I believe this string is used on the app's left-hand menu as a menu item, when the menu is expanded. See commons:File:Wikipedia Android app menu open.png.

Jack Phoenix (Contact)19:35, 22 June 2014

Thanks for the screenshot. It so helped me that I can improve the translation.

It appears that something is missing in the source message. Possibly links to terms of use and license, or something along these lines.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)12:58, 17 June 2014

It is probably related to the fact that Wikimedia:Wikipedia-android-strings-about terms of use/en and Wikimedia:Wikipedia-android-strings-about privacy policy/en appear not to exist in English.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)13:29, 17 June 2014

These two strings should exist. I can see them in the source for english in the code. Sync bug with Translatewiki?

Yuvipanda (talk)14:51, 17 June 2014

bah, it is stripping out all html. there are two <a> links that are missing :'(

Yuvipanda (talk)14:51, 17 June 2014

Appears to be a Lego message.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)13:31, 17 June 2014

There seemse to be some whitespace issues in the source message. Not critical but should be cleaned up
