What is meant: "a page" or "pages in general"?

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)09:53, 25 April 2015

What does "illegal" meant? Not allowed because it's the name of an account that is banned? Not allowed because it's got an invalid character? Not allowed because it contains a naughty word?

Jdforrester (talk)00:10, 19 July 2014

Or because of the blacklist of that wiki? Maybe child pornography, drug advertisement or terrorism?

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)08:59, 10 November 2014

No such per-crime blacklists exist.

Nemo (talk)10:28, 13 November 2014

It refers to illegal characters used inside the user name.

Bsitzmann (talk)22:09, 5 May 2015

Could you give us some more contexts or screenshot of this message?

Takot (talk)14:19, 20 September 2014

Sorry, I just noticed this (very late). I'm not familiar with the Commons app and we don't maintain it anymore. So, I cannot give any guidance for it. I believe since then translation for this app have been disabled anyways.

Bsitzmann (talk)22:06, 5 May 2015

Could you provide some more contexts with this string?

Takot (talk)01:18, 22 December 2014

LNDDYL has taken a related screenshot in zh-hant:

see here

However it's still unclear the usage...

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)14:52, 25 December 2014

Thanks for uploading zh-hant version. I now realized how it is used in Japanese. Given that, I changed the translation such as "Basic Data" something like that.

Takot (talk)14:15, 18 February 2015

@Wikipedia seems the Twitter account of Wikipedia. If so, will this string come right beginning of tweets? I tried translating this as:

@Wikipedia の記事「$1」

But if it comes at the beginning of a tweet, the tweet should be displayed only to followers of @Wikipedia. To avoid this, I'd better including a trick like:

.@Wikipedia の記事「$1」
Takot (talk)14:23, 14 February 2015

But that would be customisation, rather than translation, so it's forbidden (see Localisation guidelines). YOu make a good point, though: can you please report the issue so that it's addressed for everyone?

Nemo (talk)22:07, 14 February 2015

Thanks Nemo for following up. Now it's on a Phabricator's task.

Takot (talk)16:39, 15 February 2015

Needs more context...

Liuxinyu970226 (talk)09:00, 13 December 2014

Requesting context

Nike (talk)10:13, 20 June 2014

This message was added by YuviPanda in Change-Id: Ia95255309eee5fdab2040f4dc9aba76e0f9715e2 on 29 January 2014, and it was originally used in the file wikipedia/res/layout/activity_edit_section.xml, but it was removed by Dmitry Brant in Change-Id: Ieabd035fec22c80886e17871e83794e7576b8222, committed on 8 July 2014. So as far as I'm able to tell, this string was left in the app's strings.xml file by accident and isn't actually used anywhere and should be removed.

Jack Phoenix (Contact)15:33, 14 July 2014

Removing the string resource:

Bsitzmann (talk)21:18, 29 December 2014

It would remain as page(s) or some PLURAL is possible?

Basetalkcontributions08:01, 20 June 2014

Please avoid PLURAL syntax for the app for now. The user can select one or more save pages to be deleted. If necessary, you could treat it as "Saved pages deleted". This is for a toast that will disappear automatically after a few seconds.

Bsitzmann (talk)21:12, 29 December 2014

I need your suggestion, please. I thought that, If this source word "translators" was for a label's title, it may be needed to start by capital letter. Several words which follows -iOS-about are in the same line. This can' t be a matter on Japanese version, but I would like to know how you identify those cases to reflect later work.

SkyDaisy9 (talk)12:07, 5 November 2014

I've updated the message documentation. Thank for asking this question.

Siebrand13:25, 14 November 2014

What is "nearby" intended to be? "Related" articles or "nearby" in a geographical way?

Peg60 (talk)17:55, 11 October 2014

"nearby" in a geographical way

Siebrand18:04, 21 October 2014

"wifi" should be "Wi-Fi".

Shirayuki (talk)08:10, 7 October 2014

gerrit:167851 gerrit:167851. Thanks!

Siebrand18:21, 21 October 2014

What is "alpha update" in this string?

Takot (talk)10:29, 20 September 2014

An alpha update is an update from the alpha (or experimental) release channel.

Siebrand19:41, 23 October 2014

Is there any way of using an SI unit instead? Miles are not used at all by the metric world

Lokal Profil (talk)08:49, 8 September 2014

Closing after Skirayuki added this. Thanks!

Lokal Profil (talk)20:07, 9 September 2014

u00A0 only working in en (and not in other languages)

When translating Wikimedia:Commons-android-strings-license name cc by/en you get the following message:

CC Attribution License display name. Use the non-breaking space character(u00A0) between 'CC' and 'Attribution'

The problem is, it only works in English. I have my phone set to Swedish, and when uploading a file, i get the message: Denna bild kommer att licensieras under CCu00A0Erkännandeu00A03.0. I changed my phone's language and noticed that the message only displays correctly in English:

en: This image will be licensed under CC Attribution 3.0
da: Billedet vil blive licenseret under CCu00A0Navngivelseu00A03.0
de: Dieses Bild wird lizenziert unter CCu00A0Attributionu00A03.0
de: Denna bild kommer att licensieras under CCu00A0Erkännandeu00A03.0
abbedabb (talk)13:31, 10 August 2014

It looks as though the '\'-character in the original message doesn't survive the export to translatewiki.

Lokal Profil (talk)12:29, 11 August 2014

Please link the message.

Nike (talk)14:39, 1 August 2014

Shouldn't the descriptive text read "Label that describes color scheme selection" and not "color theme selection"? That's what it says in Wikimedia:Wikipedia-android-strings-menu themechooser/sv.

Jopparn (talk)16:46, 15 July 2014

The license should be written CC BY-SA 3.0. (no "-" between CC and BY-SA). See e.g.
