Hi Codex Sinaiticus. Please understand that the whole point of localisation is to deliver an interface solely and purely for one (1) language entity. MediaWiki was designed to work in many languages. English, German, Lower Sorbian and Amharic are just four of them. You localise in exactly one (1) language. You do not localise messages bi-lingual. Please stop reverting change to 'am' messages that in the previous edit contained text in both 'am' and 'en' and now only contain 'am' content. Please read up on the use of localisation if you do not understand the previous. Cheers! [[User:Siebrand|Siebrand]] 21:11, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Betawiki!

Hi Codex Sinaiticus. Welcome to Betawiki. Before you can use Special:Translate, please request translator rights at Betawiki:Translators. Please create a user page on which you describe which language(s) you will be working on.

Once you have started translating, please remember to often request a commit of your translation work at Process/tasks. This makes the number of changes easier to handle for the devs.

I wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Cheers! Siebrand 17:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

The reason for localisation

Hi Codex Sinaiticus. Please understand that the whole point of localisation is to deliver an interface solely and purely for one (1) language entity. MediaWiki was designed to work in many languages. English, German, Lower Sorbian and Amharic are just four of them. You localise in exactly one (1) language. You do not localise messages bi-lingual. Please stop reverting change to 'am' messages that in the previous edit contained text in both 'am' and 'en' and now only contain 'am' content. Please read up on the use of localisation if you do not understand the previous. Cheers! Siebrand 21:11, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
