Welcome to Betawiki!

Hi Codex Sinaiticus. Welcome to Betawiki. Before you can use Special:Translate, please request translator rights at Betawiki:Translators. Please create a user page on which you describe which language(s) you will be working on.

Once you have started translating, please remember to often request a commit of your translation work at Translating:Tasks. This makes the number of changes easier to handle for the devs.

I wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Cheers! Siebrand 17:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

The reason for localisation

Hi Codex Sinaiticus. Please understand that the whole point of localisation is to deliver an interface solely and purely for one (1) language entity. MediaWiki was designed to work in many languages. English, German, Lower Sorbian and Amharic are just four of them. You localise in exactly one (1) language. You do not localise messages bi-lingual. Please stop reverting change to 'am' messages that in the previous edit contained text in both 'am' and 'en' and now only contain 'am' content. Please read up on the use of localisation if you do not understand the previous. Cheers! Siebrand 21:11, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, I am going to stop working on this project for the time being, I do not wish to have to fight and edit war with a non-Amharic speaker for every single change I make to the Amharic interface. Good luck with finding someone else fluent in Amharic and computer-literate who is willing to go through this. Codex Sinaiticus 21:58, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Too bad that you choose to not take the opportunity to both learn more about localisation and bring the language you are capable of bringing to MediaWiki. It is sad that you choose to do so, and I respect the choices you make. I however will not have you compromise the foundation of localisation. Cheers! Siebrand 23:01, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Milestone 2 bonty percentage corrected

My apologies. I made an error in my calculation. The said bounty percentage of 76% for milestone 2 has been corrected to 74%. THe baseline of the calculation was incorrect. See this edit. Once again, apologies for the confusion. Cheers! Siebrand 12:32, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

P.s. please do not forget to make your claim, otherwise the 2 week period for the milestone does not start and you will not be able to collect the bounty. Siebrand 12:37, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Bounty claim expires 2008-02-01

Hi. This message is to alert you if an expiring bounty claim for am, milestone 1 on 1 February, end of day, CET. The target is 99%, and currenly the reached percentage is 78.95%. Please be aware that not reaching the milestone at the set date will reset all claims! Siebrand 17:58, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Some background on !!FUZZY!!

Hi Codex Sinaiticus. As you appear to display some hostility[1] towards bots that are doing hard (and very useful) work, I thought I might give you some additional information. Fuzzybot comes in if source messages change, or if messages need to be updated for other reasons (because of not using PLURAL, or because of incompliant XHTML and some other cases). Reverting a "FUZZY" is not a good idea. You should thoroughly check the current translation to the source message. There is a 99% chance that is *actually does need updating*. Cheers!
