Translating offline

Hi Metalhead64. Welcome to!

You can now start translating.

You should also check the portal for your language, the link is in the sidebar. Other useful pages are linked in the menu next to this message.

Your translations are transferred to the standard product every few days or every few weeks depending on the product. Please notice that it may take longer before you see your translation in the actual product.

It can be just a few days before they appear on Wikipedia, but a few months can pass between each new release of FreeCol.

We wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Please leave any questions on Support. Cheers!

Two tips for localisation

  • please do not use parser functions. Not every installation has them (reverted one instance)
  • please stick to the English source message, and do not invent additional text (reverted 2 instances). If you think a source message should be changed, please open a new topic on Support.

Cheers! Siebrand 10:07, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Is there anyway that I can add all the MediaWiki messages on this site that start with "Right-" and finish with "/en" to my watchlist? Because I want to keep an eye on them for whenever the FuzzyBot updates them. On Fandom or Miraheze I would just request a database dump. But I'm not sure if Translate has a database dump tool of any sort.

Also I noticed that a few of the Fandom messages in the Wikia namespace are outdated. Could I be bold and update them or do I have to start a discussion and get a consensus first?

P.S. Forgive me if I'm not supposed to edit your talk page. But the editor is being a pain and won't let me submit my message as a thread. ― C.Syde (talk | contribs) 01:49, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

Hallo Metalhead64!

Hello. You rejected the request from my test account. How and why the user can be a translator into English?Thank you

ديفيد (talk)11:59, 6 December 2016

English is the source language. It makes no sense to give translator rights to these users. When this was your test account, create a new one and try to make sandbox translations into another language.

\m/etalhead 13:05, 6 December 2016

Well no problem. How do you know the quality grade of translations?Thank you

ديفيد (talk)13:18, 6 December 2016

The translations must satisfy me.

Your incorrect translator flag grant

See Thread:Support/Machine translations of User:Irus. Why you grant him translator flag without a request?

MaxBioHazard (talk)13:50, 11 November 2016

MaxBioHazard, this is the signup process we have here now, see Thread:Support/Upcoming changes in registration process.

Translator rights

Sorry to bother you. But I need your help to review my situation.

For years I am one of the most active translators in European Portuguese. I corrected some changes made without consensus by other Portuguese colleague.

Another sysop came and decided to remove my translator rights without any warning. He said he wll review the situation in months or years (!). Meanwhile, wrong changes are being made and many other messages are waiting for translation and proofreading.

As one of the editors who contributed most in this project in my language (as you can see by statistics and contributions history), I kindly ask you to review this and give me back my translator rights to make corrections and continue working.

Thank you.

commons files

Hello. Why do you keep commons files?!

ديفيد (talk)08:42, 13 October 2016

File:Smiley.png is another file on commons and now I've deleted File:Nonino.jpg.

Genderspezifische Unterscheidung

Hello, this message key used by magic word ⧼lang⧽ in all wiki projects.

Iniquity (talk)14:42, 10 February 2016

But not officially registered by the software.

\m/etalhead 14:43, 10 February 2016

How its possible? {{int:lang}} must have this pages. If they not created u will see just <lang>, like in my first message.

Iniquity (talk)14:48, 10 February 2016

In MediaWiki there's no message key named "lang", see en.json

\m/etalhead 14:54, 10 February 2016

hmm, but its work

Fala language activation

Hi! I've done what is asked in the languages page and I have been talking with Support but I still cannot find the Fala project to start translating. Could you please help me as I don't know what I have to do?

Katxis (talk)12:55, 28 December 2015

Hi! Sorry to bother you again but I still don't know what to do to get the Fala code. Could you help me please?

Katxis (talk)09:33, 30 December 2015

No, I can do nothing for you.

Feedback for new search translation features

I am sorry for writing in english. We have introduced new features in Search Translations. Please read about it in phabricator or test wiki. It would be really helpful if you could give us some feedback about the new features in Search Translations.

Thank you and we shall be waiting for your feedback.

Edit of Portal:Ady

Hi! Could you please explain how can I edit this page There's an error in spelling, so now Adyghe and Kabardian (it's relative) languages are shown as Адыгэбзэ in search toolboxes.

Highlander45temp (talk)17:13, 25 June 2015

The portal page is semi-protected. If you wait two weeks after your registration, you can edit it.

\m/etalhead 19:30, 25 June 2015

Thanks very much!

Highlander45temp (talk)20:09, 25 June 2015

Why did you reject Bfpage´s request to get an account? I believe that he was a legitimate user from the English Wikipedia.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)06:50, 15 June 2015

Why I can't edit pages in MediaWiki namespace?

Dicto23456 (talk)08:47, 7 May 2015

On April 24, Nemo had revoked your translator rights.

\m/etalhead 10:28, 7 May 2015

Dicto23456, please address the concerns expressed on your talk page if you want your access restored.

Nemo (talk)13:18, 7 May 2015

Feedback request

I am working to add new features to Search Translations (link) and would like your feedback on the same. I have an idea of a new feature, called "text search with autosuggest" through which you can specify your search filters in the search box itself (apart from the UI), and also have autosuggest to show the possible values for the filter options. An example is this.

Please write a comment here about what you think of this feature. Also here you may read about the other improvements that are planned.

Thank you and I shall be waiting for your feedback.

Translations export

A thread, Thread:User talk:Metalhead64/Translations export, was moved from here to Support. This move was made by Metalhead64 (talk | contribs) on 21 March 2015 at 08:52.

Thank you for promoting me to translator group. I'm here specially to translate OpenStreetMap site. I'm "taking care" of JOSM translation (OpenStreetMap editor with a lot of messages to translate) in another site (Launchpad), but since OpenStreetMap needed some translations, I had to get here. It's not the first time I'm here. I had another translator account some time ago but I lost my password (username too, but that's easy to find since I made OpenStreetMap site translations) so I had to create another account. By the way, the first time I've been here I had to request for permission to be a translator, this time I was surprised by the new process to translate a few messages and wait for approval. Nice system! Thanks again!

Rejected translators

Hi, why was a3li rejected? What he did looks good enough to not look like spam, didn't it? [1]

Neue deutsche Übersetzer

Hallo Metalhead64!

Hallo Metalhead64,

welchen Zweck hat die folgende einzelne Änderung in der deutschen MantisBT Übersetzung? -$s_copy_notes_from_parent = 'Kopiere Notizen'; +$s_copy_notes_from_parent = 'Notizen kopieren';

Notwendige Aktualisierung von was?

Atrol (talk)15:43, 14 November 2014

Manchmal steht !!FUZZY!! in den Messages drin, die dann eventuell angepasst werden müssen. Oder hätte die alte Version gepasst?

\m/etalhead 15:50, 14 November 2014

Die alte Version war in Ordnung. Die neue Version ist zwar sprachlich besser (Substantiv zuerst), aber das müsste dann auch konsequent für weitere Meldungen einheitlich umgesetzt werden damit kein Mischmasch an der Stelle in der Benutzeroberfläche entsteht.
