Baluchi macrolanguage (bal) at MediaWiki core

Hello Mr. Nemo bis! please help us to add Baluchi macrolanguage (bal) [1] at MediaWiki core, we want to translate in public Baluchi , now we have translate project for (bgn) and (bcc) , but our people need to a public language that all Baluch people will can known it, like others language which have a macrolanguage and many dialects, at MediaWiki core need to add (bal) in Arabic and Latin script, because our Baluch people whose live out of Balochistan( large region between Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan) like Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, India,Russia and Africa they cannot understand Baluchi Arabic script.

  • Language name in native =
  • dir = RTL
  • Poral:bal

in Latin script[edit]

  • dir = LTR
  • Poral:bal
Baloch Afghanistan (talk)22:51, 25 April 2015

Hi, you're talking about other transcipts of Baluchi, "bal" has been sperated to Eastern (bgp), Southern (bcc) and Western (bgn), there no such a langauge as public Baluchi, see, for example Baluchi in Turkmenistan is Western Baluchi but using Cyrillic script, but I'm not sure what's the diffrent between them but Ibrahim khashrowdi knows.

I would like to read phabricator:T40635 which you just mentioned. How can I do that? Whenever I try to access phabricator, it tells me to check my e-mail. There is precisely nothing I can to there.

User page deletion

Hi Nemo bis! My username contains information that can reveal my real identity. Do I have to request for deletion or username change? Thanks.

Nojan Madinehi (talk)02:54, 19 January 2015

Sure, just let me know what username you prefer.

Nemo (talk)07:19, 19 January 2015

Thanks for your reply. I apologize for the delay. My global username (including the one on English Wikipedia) is "Nojan." Here, User:Nojan is indeed my account. I appreciate if you could delete "Nojan Madinehi" user and talk pages. Thanks again.

Nojan Madinehi (talk)19:27, 28 January 2015

Ok, but that username is taken. The two accounts have a similar number of edits, so I guess you are not interested in a rename. If you are, let me know. I've deleted the userpages, feel free to edit this discussion and other places to remove the full username.

Nemo (talk)22:58, 31 January 2015

Hi. Recently i renamed my account Aftab1995 to Aftabuzzaman in the whole wikimedia project ( // Is it possible rename here also? If yes, please rename my account to "Aftabuzzaman". Thank you.

Closing support tickets

Just wondering (based on [1] and [2]) if support ticket should always be closed as soon as there is a gerrit patch or bugzilla ticket (independent on if those are merged/resolved)?

Lokal Profil (talk)21:06, 9 September 2014

Yes. We use LQT+SMW as issue tracker but we really shouldn't, in an ideal world: as soon as stuff is in someone else's queue we remove it from ours.

Nemo (talk)21:42, 9 September 2014

Thanks. I'll try to keep that in mind in the future.

Lokal Profil (talk)23:33, 9 September 2014

If you want to help with support requests, see mw:Gerrit/Navigation#System_messages. Currently the queue is rather low though, no urgency; my plan is to handle it as usual around September 20.

Nemo (talk)07:14, 10 September 2014

Thanks for the link, has already proved useful.

Lokal Profil (talk)10:06, 17 September 2014

Thanks for creating my account. One question though. Why the sudden change of heart. My application was declined initially.

Cyberpower678 (talk)12:36, 8 September 2014

Not a change of heart, just flaws in the process. I'm trying to document it at FAQ#How_do_I_register?.

Beta16 (talk)08:16, 29 July 2014

Nemo (talk)08:20, 29 July 2014

Secondo mw:MediaWiki_1.24/Roadmap dovrebbe arrivare entro oggi. Domani ripeto la verifica.

Beta16 (talk)08:47, 29 July 2014

Beta16 (talk)09:59, 30 July 2014

Link targets

Hi. Regarding this and this. I thought (or read somewhere I don't recall right now) that link targets shouldn't be change. Would it be better to change the original English message?

Macofe (talk)21:52, 28 July 2014

Thanks for asking. The rule is at Localisation guidelines: "translate, don't customise". In this case adding Special:MyLanguage is part of translating that message correctly: its qqq was recently updated after software upgrades on

You can finish the work manually for your language, following the docs; as for me, my next step will be an attempt to add the language code suffix in most cases, then I'll fuzzy the messages to ask an update.

Nemo (talk)22:01, 28 July 2014

I understand what you mean. But I do not speak English and it is very difficult to understand how to do this please send me the mail that I have to translate that I will translate and send you back

You can send me here ( I will thank you

Умар (talk)02:21, 11 July 2014

I already created you an account with that email, did you not receive the email from the Survey Tool?

Nemo (talk)12:15, 11 July 2014

No I have not got the mail please send what I have to translate into Chechen.

We unfortunately do not have a Chechen who knows English.

But I can transfer information if you send a file for translation.

Умар (talk)13:07, 11 July 2014

If you can not send the mail, you can save here.

Deep Search

Hi. see Armenian interface all words are translated. and here is empty. then we must look elsewhere. trying to find. Dear participant, let's find where to fix it finally. Sorry that I write hope for understanding.

Умар (talk)11:16, 5 July 2014

Several things (message not updated, discussion in gerrit, etc)

Hi! There are several things I would like to say / ask.

  1. In gerrit:141728, eventually I can find the cause for some messages why sometimes I can't search them; that is, searching through URL query string and searching through search box yield different results. For example, this query string and the following input (language:th^25 messageid:"MediaWiki:Babel-footer-url"^10 ":Category:Babel - Users by language") should be completely equivalent, but currently they yield different results. I don't know how to fix it, though, so I ask you here if you have any suggestion.
  2. This url shows that the message in translatewiki / git is deleted "[[$1]]". However, actually it is not. Why does this happen? Note that in /languages/i18n/th.json this message doesn't exist.
  3. This url shows that the message in translatewiki / git is หน้าคำอธิบาย. However, actually it is not. Why does this happen, too? Note that "nstab-help": "หน้าวิธีใช้", is in /language/i18n/th.json, showing that the message has been already updated in git.

Thank you,

Nullzero (talk)09:03, 28 June 2014

On the first: I don't know, maybe escaping problems.

On the last two: I don't understand the question, you say at the same time that a message is and is not X in git. FAQ may be a useful read.

Nemo (talk)09:09, 28 June 2014

Lucas (talk)03:07, 20 May 2014

Nemo (talk)06:06, 20 May 2014

Fai pure a tua discrezione, non ho preferenze particolari. ;)
