Skr or Skr-arab

@Nemo bis: @MF-Warburg: @StevenJ81: We have complete the localization for Saraiki Wikipedia here[1] but another page for translation has been created by someone here [2] I point out that the language code skr is correct as per ISO code but the skr-arab is invalid as per SIL and ethnologue. the web address for Saraiki Wikipedia will be skr.wikipedia.org not skr-arab.wikipedia.org please guide me in this regard. thanks --Rehmat Aziz Chitrali 05:26, 6 October 2018 (UTC)

Plural in pt (pt-pt): 0 must be plural (use CLDR's pt_PT rule)

Phabricator T151008 can now move again, just for pt, right?

Hamilton Abreu (talk)08:53, 24 November 2016

Yes. Fixing our parser of the CLDR data is a self-contained task, though not necessarily an easy one.

Why did you delete that?

\m/etalhead 09:45, 7 November 2016

Because we are not watching them.

Nemo (talk)10:04, 7 November 2016

And where's the problem?

\m/etalhead 10:26, 7 November 2016

The problem is that people use those to request deletion and their request is not satisfied. Without the template, it will be clear to them that they have to use another venue (Support) and we'll satisfy the request quickly.

Nemo (talk)10:29, 7 November 2016

My personal experience is that requests are satisfied. There are log entries which suggest that at least Metalhead was watching them. It seems reasonable to have the tag just for the case of simplicity. If requests aren't satisfied in a timely manner, then the tag could include a note which reads that for urgent requests it's recommended to use the support page instead.

Pikne07:18, 8 November 2016

If an administrator wants to recreate the template and make sure the requests are handled, they're free to.

Template:Welcome

Please remove Template:Welcome/i18n temporarily from translation and move the existing translations to its subpages. (You can re-add it after all translations have been moved.) Then they should be merged into the translation system – this is the part in which I can help, or you can use Special:PageMigration. This complies with copyright while making the migration easier (especially if you chose PageMigration). Thanks,

Tacsipacsi (talk)14:57, 30 October 2016

I intentionally avoided doing so, to have the old subpages around and quickly restorable. If you copy the old messages you can link the source page to respect cc-by-sa.

Nemo (talk)15:07, 30 October 2016

OK, then I re-translated it to Hungarian. But it still doesn’t work – there aren’t any {{int:lang}} messages. Is there any other way to get the user language code or should we create hundreds (or at least dozens) of messages?

Tacsipacsi (talk)15:32, 30 October 2016

Oh, I see, an error introduced by [1]. Let me fix.

Nemo (talk)16:38, 30 October 2016

Thank you, I didn’t think of the fact that I made the error… But the most important is that it finally works.

Feedback for new search translation features

Hi!

We have introduced new features in Search Translations. Please read about it in phabricator or test wiki. It would be really helpful if you could give us some feedback about the new features in Search Translations.

Thank you and we shall be waiting for your feedback.

Con il nuovo gruppo di messaggi "Project localized name" ho rivisto un po' di localizzazioni in italiano dei nomi delle lingue.

Ci sarebbero da aggiungere/modificare questi:

  • azb = azero meridionale (oppure azerbaigiano meridionale)
  • bcl = bicolano centrale
  • bh = bihari
  • bxr = buriato
  • cdo = min dong
  • diq = zazaki
  • eml = emiliano-romagnolo
  • krc = caraciai-balcaro
  • lbe = lak
  • lez = lezghiano
  • mhr = mari orientale
  • mo = moldavo
  • nah = nāhuatl
  • pih = pitcairnese
  • pnb = punjabi occidentale
  • stq = frisone orientale

Ho detto a te perché tu forse sai come fare... Grazie!

Beta16 (talk)10:58, 26 February 2016

Ciao, hai chiesto alla persona giusta ma come dice CLDR le modifiche andrebbero fatte direttamente in http://st.unicode.org/cldr-apps/survey . Ero convinto che tu avessi accesso ma pare di no; ti ho aggiunto ora, dovresti aver ricevuto la password. In primavera sarà stagione di correzioni, dovresti ricevere un messaggio da CLDR.

Nemo (talk)19:52, 19 March 2016

Capito, grazie! Però non ho ricevuto alcuna password (o email) ancora.

I want to get the rights of the transfer of the interface of division in the lezginskom language. How to get? (thanks in advance).

Namik (talk)05:12, 10 May 2016

I don't understand.

Nemo (talk)06:12, 10 May 2016

Did i make changes to CLDR last year when was submission? Interface is complicated, so i am not sure whether what i was doing is good, bad or neither. Now again i made changes (i hope so) in beta mode, are they good, bad or neither?

Milićević (talk)21:06, 1 April 2016

Hello, if you are in the list of contributors then your changes were accepted. Note that Serbian is considered an "established locale" so in general you need at least another person to vote for your translations to have them approved. The changes I see are good.

When the "vetting phase" arrives, make sure to check if other people voted your translations. You should see a green check next to them. If your translations have an orange check, you'll need to ask for more votes in the forums (and let me know if you don't succeed). If your translations were not approved last time, you should click "import my old votes" when the submission phase arrives, so that you start where you left. No work is wasted.

Nemo (talk)21:19, 1 April 2016

Ok then, will be in touch when next submission starts, my changes will be like this Вијетнамски -> вијетнамски (Vietnamese language)

Milićević (talk)16:13, 2 April 2016

I made my changes, now what should i do?

Languages and CLDR

I'm not here found some languages such as Avar and Lezgi.

Умар (talk)21:24, 2 December 2015

The language names for lez and av can be translated into ce: http://www.unicode.org/cldr/charts/28/summary/root.html

Adding lez and av locales is another thing: CLDR#Creating a new locale.

https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Special:Undelete/Thread:Support/About_Intuition:Wikiviewstats-chartBasedOn/en_%282%29

Please do not delete support requests. It is fine to close them with a reference to the request they duplicate. If deleted, my links to them become useless, because I cannot read them any more. So I am unable to track them.

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)03:27, 4 September 2015

Usually I close. I delete only exact duplicates, because watchers of translating:pywikibot etc. are annoyed by duplicate notifications when the threads are moved. Sometimes I forgot to delete the corresponding Summary page, so there were red links in user:purodha etc.: is that what you are talking about? Sorry.

Nemo (talk)06:15, 4 September 2015

The URLs are in a note file on my local computer.

Template:Languages

Hi,

you changed Template:Languages. Do you have any idea what a better solution could be? I would be happy to implement it, if I knew one. --Purodha Blissenbach (talk) 21:41, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Purodha Blissenbach (talk)21:41, 3 September 2015

Same here: I don't know of a better solution, otherwise I would have implemented it. Probably a mw:Lua module would be more efficient, someone should test on mw: or m:. Eventually, we should probably implement this function in <languages />.

Nemo (talk)06:17, 4 September 2015

Handling of all ISO 639-3 data with their BCP 47 extensions in a LUA module is too elusive for LUA. I tried something like this some 2 years ago and were not allowed to save the module due to its size :-( Handlng only the selection of language codes used in translatewiki.net should imo be possible. So as to not duplicate much data and keep things smoothly automatic, I likely prefer the <language> approach.
