Bounty page doesn't show properly

I can't view the bounty page properly...

Oxyzen07:07, 9 January 2010

Which page is that, and what is the problem?

Siebrand09:48, 9 January 2010

Oxyzen10:12, 9 January 2010

The language project is closed. It may return in the future, but for now it doesn't matter that some of its content is outdated.

Siebrand21:35, 11 January 2010

thanks!

Speciaal:Misbruikfilter

Hallo Siebrand,

Siebrand01:10, 18 January 2010

Oke, hartelijk bedankt.

Lolsimon01:16, 18 January 2010

already… messages not committed

The messages already_bureaucrat/yi and already_sysop/yi do not get committed. Do you know why?

פוילישער13:52, 6 January 2010

You may have created pages for messages that are not part of any defined message group. We do not support the deprecated "MakeSysop" extension.

Siebrand14:00, 6 January 2010

I am a bit lost here. If the messages are deprecated, why does Wikipedia have default values for them, and where do these default values come from? Many thanks.

פוילישער19:11, 7 January 2010

Ask them. I/we are not Wikipedia.

Dubbele vertalingen

Edited by author.
Last edit: 20:43, 5 January 2010

Hi,

Tedjuh1020:46, 5 January 2010

Hello Siebrand. Now my name is on the list. I did translate many messages, but I did not put my name on the list because I thought that the really refers only to translations titled `MediaWiki` in the stats. The only one of that type that I did, had much less than 500 messages in it, even before the rally started. But if the rally refers to other things too, than the reward will be more than welcome. Thanks a lot :) --B. Jankuloski 12:53, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Rally count

Hi, Siebrand. Recently there have been made mass contributions (importing, converting etc.). I really appreciate it. That's a great job. What I want to know is whether these ~20 -~40 per minute contributions will be counted to the rally. If that's so, would mind informing me so that I can do my own commitments. Kind Regards

Hanberke17:42, 31 December 2009

What about converting...

Hanberke18:23, 31 December 2009

At 18:15 31 December (UTC), Liangent has almost 50 contributions a minute. Is that also offline translation? or converting? or what? If that will counted, please inform me. It's a rally. I want to be sure of the things.

Hanberke18:28, 31 December 2009

Liangent's and Meno25's bot/script based conversions do not count in the rally, although they may be reported in the rally.

questino about translator support

new thread system look great, not familiar yet ;)

korean portal have [document] to introduce common or translatewiki-dependent translation issues. (do not care so much about pagename)

is there any existing way to notice this page to new members? this will be really helpful to prevent common accidents by new users.

thank you :)

ToePeu18:31, 23 December 2009

Not really. It should be in the manual pages somewhere, though. You can add references on the portal page.

Siebrand19:49, 23 December 2009

Special Page aliasis

Hello, Siebrand! Long time no see.

I just updated some of the special page aliases for Persian (fa), and I wanted to request you to make sure these will be applied to the repository (because usually they don't get committed for a long time).

Thanks,

Huji04:12, 18 December 2009

Will be updated within a week.

Siebrand10:29, 18 December 2009

Hi, Siebrand. I asked for permissions to translate from Spanish or English to Wayuu (guc) and got no answer yet. I also try to see the list of messages to translate and I get just an error message. Thanks for any help.

Periergeia16:49, 12 December 2009

I guess everyone missed your reply. I'll take care of it.

To Run Bot

Hi, I wish to run a bot to fix some common spelling problems in Malayalam using pywikipedia bot. If possible please provide required changes to login and run the bot here, and please tell me how I can make that bot to edit only Malayalam (ml) messages. Thank you

Praveenp16:13, 6 December 2009

I can make you a list of 'ml' messages with namespace numbers. You'll have to convert those to full page names yourself. As for a bot, if you have experience running a bot, just let me know what the bot name will be (preferably PraveenpBot or BotPraveenp), I'll set the correct access rights. Best do that through Project:Translator.

Siebrand16:50, 6 December 2009

Hi, I created an account 'PravBot' for my bot. But I still dont know what I need to change to login and edit here. I am running a bot with same functionality in ml.wikipedia. Once I get the bot settings for translatewiki; I can request Bot status. Thankyou

Praveenp02:33, 8 December 2009

Thankyou for bot flag. Is there a namespace for 'ml' messages as said earlier??

Praveenp12:09, 8 December 2009

There is no namespace. 'ml' messages are in the namespace for the products the translations have been created in. As said, I'll make you a file that contains all "/ml" pages. See http://translatewiki.net/static/temp/ml.txt. First column is the namespace number.

OSM Translation

I'm translating OSM website, and now it's 59% completed. when the changes will be uploaded? I want to see the usability of the interface!

Best Regards -Bassem JARKAS 08:06, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Bassem JARKAS08:06, 5 December 2009

I'll commit somewhere this weekend, but I do not know about the update frequency of the OSM site.

Siebrand10:46, 5 December 2009

Vector fixed too

Just in case you don't get the IRC message. I fixed vector also. Hope you don't mind.

Warning about a certain translate request

The user "Der Künstler" recently requested translator right to translate the rapa nui interface. He does not have any idea of the rapa nui language, other than the short, vividly misspelled dictionary he has here: http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wb/rap/Diccionario_espa%C3%B1ol_-_rapa_nui

I do not know what his intentions are, but I wouldn't like him to ruin our project. He's already been busy adding irrelevant information to the rapa nui wiki test. Every new translator for the language will be in contact with me, so I will know everyone who request for the right reasons (at least in the near future). SoleilTuki is one of them, who also recently requested permission.

mJohnsson18:09, 26 November 2009

Thanks. I asked him to respond.

Siebrand21:53, 26 November 2009

Uploading gettext

I have translated the OSM partially and alredy uploaded them but there is no any change ..is complete translation needed to see the change ?

No, it is not needed. But the import is a two step process. Maybe you haven't given the command to actually upload? See Special:Contributions/सरोज_कुमार_ढकाल for your edits. There are no recent ones.

Siebrand14:19, 26 November 2009

out-osm-site translation

I am working on translation OSM website for Arabic language using Virtaal. do I need "offline translator rights" or I can send you the file to upload it? I'm alredy done part of it (38%). Thank you

Bassem JARKAS11:57, 21 November 2009

I'll give you offline rights.

Siebrand12:08, 21 November 2009

hello siebrand.

Can you confirm what the $fallback of cbk-zam is?

Thanks.

Weekeejames09:05, 15 November 2009

As it is - most likely - a Spanish based creole - cbk-zam is not a valid ISO code - the fallback currently is Spanish. It was set in February 2008. See svn for details.

Siebrand09:43, 15 November 2009

Great. es should be the fallback of cbk-zam. thanks.

Weekeejames10:23, 15 November 2009

Rapa Nui misspelled

Hi, You recently granted me translation right for English to Rapa Nui, and I thank you for that. I'm still trying to get the hang of this system, so I still don't fully understand it. Though, I saw on a page that the title isn't correct, and I'm suspecting that it's because of the language information in the system. Please take a look at this page: http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Portal:Rap Regarding the line "rap Vananga Rapa nui (Rapanui)": "Vananga Rapa Nui" is supposed to refer to the language of Rapa Nui, but it's not correct. Vananga (which is actually "Vanaga" when writing, since Rapa Nui doesn't have the English "g"-sound; only "-ng") means "the speaking" of something. The actual word for "language" is 'arero. Please, tell me how to make the change, or change "Vananga Rapa Nui" yourself to "'arero rapa nui" (no capitals, as opposed to English). Also, the "Rapanui" at the end (referring to where it is written as a single word) is wrong. It is two words - "Rapa Nui". Thank you.

mJohnsson12:47, 13 November 2009

I took the autonym from the article on the language in the English language Wikipedia. You might want to make corrections there. Btw, the autonym I chose appears to be dominant on the internet, outweighing your suggestion at least 10:1.

Siebrand12:50, 13 November 2009

Ok, thanks for mentioning that - fixed it on the English page. I know that most people use it, but it's still wrong. Because of Chilean influences, much of the correct Rapa Nui grammar and words are getting lost, which is why I decided to request a Rapa Nui wiki. Though, there are also some ambitious people who try to set an example by speaking well, to teach and motivate the youngsters, which is btw why I'm sure that a Rapa Nui wiki would be very sucessful. Most youngsters refer to the language as "Vanaga Rapa Nui", but it's informal and actually incorrect.

mJohnsson13:53, 13 November 2009

I also forgot to mention that writing "rapa nui" as one word ("rapanui") is something that has become popular especially among American citizens, but is also incorrect. "Rapa" and "nui" are two separate words, and must not me combined.

mJohnsson13:59, 13 November 2009

I saw Drupal under tactical requirements. Recently, they started their own initiative. Not sure if they would come to TranslateWiki.

Veeven09:33, 10 November 2009

Yep, seeing that they did that made me sad. It is a shame that a lot of projects are still investing time in developing their own L10n solutions. IMO it is an utter waste of their time, taking time from their core business: developing and stabilizing software features. The L10n part is what environments like ours are better equipped for. Anyway, it's happened, but they are still on my list...
