Changes in plural for Manx (gv - Gaelg) in MediaWiki

Changes in plural for Manx (gv - Gaelg) in MediaWiki

Per mid December 2013, the plural rules for Manx (gv - Gaelg) have changed. Before they were as follows (4 forms):

n is 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, 120, ...
n is 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, ...
n is 2, 12, 22, 32, 42, 52, ...
n is none of the above

They now will be consistent with the plural rules for Scots Gaelic (gd) as defined in CLDR (4 forms):

n is 1, 11, 21, 31, 41, 51, ...
n is 2, 12, 22, 32, 42, 52, ...
n is 0, 20, 40, 60, 100, 120, ...
n is none of the above

These forms are also know as "one", "two", "few", and "other" respectively. In MediaWiki, it is not required to specify all forms at all times. The last form specified will be used for a missing form when not all forms have been used.

Future changes in the plural handling for Manx (gd) will only come into MediaWiki through changes in the plural rules of CLDR.

As a consequence, all translations for language code "gv" in the MediaWiki namespace containing PLURAL have been marked as outdated, and should be updated as soon as possible. Until the translations have been corrected, plural forms will be incorrect for the 50 effected translations.

This message will be linked in the e-mail to translators and in the language's Wikipedia village pump(s). Because of this change, backporting of translations to recent versions of MediaWiki below MediaWiki 1.22 will not be possible.
