[[MediaWiki:Thanks-confirmation2/en]]: public or private thanks?

mw:Extension:Thanks says "It invites editors to send a private 'Thank you' notification". And that's actually what it does, only the user that receives it can see it, so how can it be more private than that?.

Shouldn't Thanks-confirmation2 be rephrased to "{{GENDER:$1|Send}} private thanks for this edit"?

No, the log entry is visible to all users.

OK, the other users can't see why the user was thanked, so I guess it's half private/half public.

I think his suggestion is qualified, at least you should have right to send thanks to a CheckUser action, which should not be public as per Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information

Please see phab:T90486 for why it explicitly says "public".
