Thanks for providing the information. Support for the language code has been added. Please start with translating the most often used messages in MediaWiki.

The fallback is still in English. We (the work-group Wikimedia Colombia) will work together with indigenous people, most of they speak Nasa Yuwe and scarcely Spanish but not English. Can someone fix that?

On translatewiki.net the original messages for translation are always in English. Each translator can choose in which other languages to display the message being translated in the translation editor by going to 'Preferences', usually at the top of any page. In 'preferences', click on the fourth tab, 'Editing' and go to the 'Assistant Languages' in the 'Translation options' section. There you can choose 'es- Spanish' and any other languages you might like to see, then click on 'Add to list', then click on 'save' at the bottom of the page. Then when you are translating you should see the original English message and the Spanish translation being displayed in the translation editor.

Then you can get going with the most often used messages in MediaWiki. When these are done, the language will start to be exported to MediaWiki and from there to other wikis, including all WikiMedia Foundation wikis. Then, when you choose pbb as the interface language, you will see the pbb messages in action, but any messages which haven't yet been translated will be in Spanish, the fallback language. At least, that's how I think it works.
