OpenID feature on translatewiki UI

OpenID feature on translatewiki UI

I've just played a little with Extension:OpenID on WikiPapers and loved that extension! What about enabling the extension features here on translatewiki? I don't save any password on any browser/computer and I'm all the time logged-in on Google or other OpenID provider, and probably others are in the same situation =)

Thanks for the suggestion. It's been on our list for a while. Who knows, maybe one day we'll get to it :).

In case you wonder why it hasn't happened yet: given the bad experiences I've had with the practically unmaintained Liquid Threads, I don't want to take another (even more) complex extension on my plate here.

We will be often the first ones to find issues, and often it falls on our shoulders to also fix those issues, because nobody else gives a damn until the same problems are on their face, maybe years later if at all.

It will happen when I'm convinced that OpenID works reliably and there is someone to support it for the foreseeable future.

+1 (I fully support your wish to add OpenID here. It is stable and works with trunk - the OpenID extension "trunk" version from SVN with MediaWiki core from git - see extension page. I use it on all of my private wikis since years without any problem.

I maintain OpenID since a while and have applied a lot of patches, and documentation, and suggest to always run the latest version. Extension:OpenID is currently only fully tested to work with MySQL database, PostgreSQL needs a onetime manual upgrade as some users reported to me.
