And this needs to be changed why?

For consistency reasons. All other messages of this extension use "$1" instead of just $1 as they refer to pages (see e. g. Article-comments-no-comments ("Sorry, the page "[[$1]]" is not accepting comments at this time."), Article-comments-submission-success ("You have submitted a comment for "[[$1]]""), etc. Cheers
