Question on Portal:Ady

Hi,

I fixed this. Can you please check?

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)12:27, 12 July 2015

It's fine now! Thank you Amire!

GR44 Luc (talk)08:34, 13 July 2015

Amire hi again! Can I ask you another question? Why I do not see any change on the page https://tools.wmflabs.org/robin/?tool=codelookup&code=ady

"Localization" section. Although my friends and I translated a lot of "core messages". And some "ProofPage" messages. Nothing is seen...

GR44 Luc (talk)08:45, 13 July 2015

Can you please ask User:SPQRobin? He is supposed to know how that page works.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)08:52, 13 July 2015

Ok, thanks very much for quick answer! Could you give me some guidance? What else is needed for Ady-wiki to be pushed to the real world? :) Articles (pages)? How many?

GR44 Luc (talk)19:58, 13 July 2015

There is no hard number for that. In general if there are several users who continuously write articles, there is usually a good chance that it will be approved.

Since I see that you are active with translations to this language, I wanted to ask you something: Are there a lot of people who write and read in Adyghe in the Latin alphabet?

Hi Amir!

1) Regarding Ady-Latin: As far as I know YES. I.e. a lot of Circassians live in Turkey. I heard about several hundred thousands of those who can speak Adyghe language. Turkish is in Latin. So there is a strong need in Ady-Latin system. But I do not know of any successful Ady-Latin system. Maybe because of difficult phonetics, not sure...

2) Regarding translations: Sure! We're are in the process. I.e. I'm not alone, several of my friends agreed to help in the project.

GR44 Luc (talk)12:06, 19 July 2015

Hi Amir! Could you please answer? What is the difference between these two pages? https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Portal:Ady https://translatewiki.net/wiki/Special:SupportedLanguages/ady#ady

I'm lost, honestly. I thought only one of them have to exist. Not both... Thank you in advance!

Highlander45temp (talk)19:02, 2 August 2015

As far as I know, Portal:ady is the important page for having a list of translators.

I'm not really sure what is the special role of Special:SupportedLanguages, and why doesn't the list of translators appear there. Maybe the reason is the existence of ady and ady-cyrl, but it's not really very important.

The important thing is that you seem to be doing a good job! about 150 messages more in MediaWiki core, and we'll be able to enable the exporting for your language - this will be a very nice step forward.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)19:10, 2 August 2015

Aha, thanks! :)

Highlander45temp (talk)19:56, 2 August 2015

Amir thanks a lot for your help!

Highlander45temp (talk)07:17, 6 August 2015

Amir hi! Can we do the next step?

Highlander45temp (talk)07:49, 22 August 2015

You got to 30%! Excellent job. Your language is being exported to the source code now, and in about a week you'll be able to select it as your user interface language in the Incubator.

Another little thing that you need to complete is the most used message. There are just a few left.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)09:09, 22 August 2015

Good! Thank you very much Amir!

Highlander45temp (talk)11:04, 22 August 2015

Hi Amir! Can we do the next step?

Highlander45temp (talk)08:28, 30 August 2015

Some of the most used MediaWiki messages are still not translated. Please complete their translation. Tell me if you need any help with the terminology.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)08:31, 30 August 2015

OMG... Ok, thank you, we'll try.

Highlander45temp (talk)08:42, 30 August 2015

Just 19 more... :)

I'd really love to push it forward as soon as you're finished, and then go celebrate it in Kfar Kama ;)

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)15:15, 9 September 2015

Ok! Thank you Amir! :)))

Highlander45temp (talk)19:04, 13 September 2015

Amir, I guess it's done. Could you please take a look?

Highlander45temp (talk)21:24, 13 September 2015

Wonderful!

Done!

I'll try to push things further with opening the Wikipedia.

In the mean time, the best thing you can do is write good articles on the incubator.

Good luck!

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)21:52, 13 September 2015

Ok, thank you very much Amir :)

Highlander45temp (talk)07:09, 14 September 2015

You're welcome - it's mostly your work!

And let me tell you something IMPORTANT again - the best thing that you can do for your language now is to write articles in incubator. It's absolutely crucial.

Thank you again.

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)08:47, 14 September 2015

Hello, Amire. You helped us a lot. I am also participating in Adyghe project. I do not see anything happened with our translations. I should see?

SmartNart12 (talk)06:22, 27 September 2015

Amir E. Aharoni (talk)13:17, 27 September 2015

Да-да, Амир!! Спасибо, теперь вижу!! Я постараюсь много статей писать.
