Question!

Hi! I don't think you made a mistake? I don't know if you were asked to make those moves or how you figured out elsewhere that they were needed, but I trust you did the right thing. Yes, I'm trying to figure out how to prevent that in the future similar moves corrupt help pages at mediawiki.org (they really look awful with all those red links!). I may try to find out why that extension isn't live there. Then again, I don't know how often moves happen that would justify having it deployed at mw.org. I'll think about this. Have a nice week,

Hi. Reason for the move was https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/254041/ . It moved code from the VE extension to the Cite extension and the message keys were changed. In a follow up the existing translations were moved here on translatewiki.net to the new message keys.

Such moves happen a few times per week. Either a key change inside an extension or a move between two extensions. I am doing the followup moves/edits here so that our translators have less work. Hard to say how to avoid this... I guess most programmers are not aware the a key change can destroy a help page on MediaWiki.org.

ReplaceText: I think the extension needs a WMF security review first before it can be deployed at least on mw.org.

have a nice week too :-)

Oh, I'm sure they have good reasons to change the messages and only do that when really necessary. I'm wondering whether we can improve the process so that it creates less work for everyone. I'm going to throw this info into Phab ;) TTYS!
