Your changes to Convenient Discussions translations

Hi. I see you've made a lot of changes like this: https://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=Wikimedia:Convenient-discussions-cf-help-content/ru&diff=prev&oldid=9963510. Why do you think they are needed (the "c:" prefix seems to work on wikis quite well, unlike on Translatewiki), and if they are, I should add this to the source, first of all; otherwise anyone might revert the changes on the basis of absence in the source.

That's because the interwiki prefix c: is not universal across wikis, except those wikis hosted by Wikimedia. The Mw: prefix however is recognized on all wikis recognizing MediaWiki extensions (like yours), so MediaWiki wiki will correctly forward the link to Wikimedia Commons.

Also your extension is not installed and supported in any Wikimedia wiki. All it has is a description page on the MediaWiki wiki, plus your personal user page, for contacting you rather than document it.

If your extension is installed on Wikia, the interwiki starting by c: will go to Wikia Commons, not Wikimedia Commons, so the link will not reach the intended user page or its translations. If you really want to make sure that these links will go to your user pages on Wikimedia Commons, don't use wikilinks, use links by URL starting by https:...

Also I did not change a lot, most of these edits were on resources that were already "FUZZY" since long. This also means that most people don't know your extension and did not review these translations at all since long. They have then no specific reason to revert something that works now, but was never working before.

I don't know which wiki really uses this extension, but you seem to assume that they have the "c:" interwiki prefix enabled, and only going to Wikimedia Commons... As far as I know this "short" prefix is not part of the default installation package of Mediawiki and most wikiw will only enable "mw:" if they have installed any Mediawiki extension, normally documented in Mediwiki wiki (and not on Wikimedia Commons, which is definitely not the place for that, even if you can do that in your user pages, but for one-to-one talks refering to your own usage of Wikimedia wikis, but not elsewhere if it's not linked to something that works in Wikimedia wikis).

That's why I suggest to move these doc pages on MediaWiki wiki, as subpages of description page for your extension and not liked to your usage pages in Commons, which is unrelated to this "Convenient Discussion" project as it concerns all other activities that you could have on WM Commons (but maybe WM Commons is your "home" wiki for Wikimedia SUL).

Thanks for the explanation. The reason it's currently hosted at Commons is that it's a user script/gadget (not an extension) that is guaranteed to work only on Wikimedia wikis. (If there is demand for use on third-party wikis, efforts can be made to make sure it is environment-independent, but currently there is no such guarantee.) So, the "c:" prefix seems to actually be universal in the scope that is currently intended.
