Da igual que la gente haga uso del término incorrecto, es un falso cognado. Es como cuando dicen «soportar» como traducción de support; es súper incorrecto. Y la palabra «rango» no significa ‘grupo de valores’. Como alternativas puedes usar «área», «gama» o «intervalo».
Además, en español las siglas no tienen plural: escribir «IPs» también es incorrecto, aunque la s sí se pronuncie.
