Category:Official languages of the United Nations

Jump to navigation Jump to search

Note that the United Nations can use all official languages of its member (or observer) countries in its assemblee, or for specific works in its numerous commissions, agencies or missions deployed around the world (which may also use regional languages in these local missions).

Only a few of them are used as "official languages of the United Nations", but actually only as necessary working languages for the generated documentation and official international communications of the organization, many (but not all) of them being translated into some other languages when needed, with a smaller part of these documents getting an official status once they are ratified by member countries (other translated documents having only an informative status or being created by specific countries for their internal use).
