translatewiki.net September 2011 Translation Rally results

These are the results of the translatewiki.net September 2011 Transation Rally. These results are final.

24 users have made 500 or more contributions during the rally. A great result given the specific scope (Kiwix, MediaWiki core, and Wikimedia).

  • Total new in-scope translations during rally: 20,889
  • Total active in-scope translators during rally: 127
  • Languages contributed to: 108

And these are the contribution counts for all qualifying users that each get a EUR 37.50 cut (including transfers costs). Gazeb and Dim Grits have finished in first and second place, qualifying for an additional EUR 50,00 cut. Congratulations and many, many thanks to all translatewiki.net translators for making such an enormous difference for non-English users of Kiwix and MediaWiki! If we do not have your payment details yet, we will request those from you by e-mail within a week or two.

Most qualifying translations

How much should I have translations to share 100 eur with someone else ? @Siebrand please tell some about value like in last rally =)

Olli16:25, 9 September 2011

Hi Olli, at the last rally over than 3,000 massages were tranlated by winner. see in Project_talk:Rally-2011-04#translatewiki.net_April_2011_Translation_Rally_results_13491

J Subhi21:47, 9 September 2011

This rally, it looks like ~1200 will suffice. That's mainly because the scope was smaller.

Enough messages?

Hello, I am translating into Norwegian, and I am quite active (in periods). Thus, the message-groups picked out for this translation rally contains less than 500 new messages. I translate regardless, but I wonder if translations in other groups will be OK when all of the listed groups are at 100%?

In short: Will you append a 4th entry in the list for languages with less then 500 new messages in the selected groups?

Nghtwlkr09:03, 5 September 2011

Unfortunately for you (and a few other well localised languages) not. Thank you for all your contributions, though. Please keep coming back, and know that one day you will be able to participate and qualify in a rally again!

I have the same problem, Nght! :-( I need 75 more somewhere!

Yekrats13:00, 6 September 2011

I only have 27 qualifying translations and almost half of those are contributions to message documentation. So if you are not bad at reading PHP, there are thousands more messages to document. Be aware though: documenting messages takes 5 times longer than regular translations, if not longer, but it's about the most valuable thing you can do here (!).

Siebrand13:25, 6 September 2011

Oh, I think I get it! So, does the "qqq" language code displays the directions for what the variables and other information about the translation? I think I might be able to eke 100 more out of that!
