What is the normal time to wait for approval to translate?

I have a friend who recently signed up to translate something for Kiwix into Thai language, but has not been approved. I signed up to ask this question because my friend is often busy. How long should someone normally wait?

Usually it takes a few hours, unless there are follow-up questions. If your friend is "Villagescience", then he had to wait about 5.5 hours, and was granted translator rights on 2013-02-07, which is roughly a week ago.
