I think they won't be supporting de-formal, but to be sure I'll move this thread the Translating_talk:WikiReader so an OpenMoko developer can respond.
I'm not exactly sure what the question is. We are only aware of one type of German wikipedia. Namely de.wikipedia.org. So could you clarify what this de-formal stuff is?
In German, there are two different ways of calling a person. There's a formal one, which you commonly do with persons who you don't know that much or not at all. The other is more relaxed, which you do with young persons, with adults that you know or family members. In the MediaWiki localization, the usual "de" uses the non-formal form, and the specific language "de-formal" uses the formal form. There's nothing gramatically comparable like this in English, but of course, the English that you talk with your friends is a different one than the one that you speak with your customers.
Now, it's the question how you want that with WikiReader. We can use the polite or unpolite form only in our translation or separate it into two "languages" as we do it with MediaWiki. As I read some of your messages, I think it would be better to only use the formal German for the translation, but of course, that's just me.
I see. Yes we should use formal then. Thanks for clarifying!
Ok, thanks. I have changed the only message using the other form.
