I'm checking translations for MediaWiki:Echo-notification-notice-text-only/de (and MediaWiki:Tooltip-pt-notifications-notice/de). I've seen your change from "Notizen" ("Notes") to "Mitteilungen" ("Messages"). Your change seems to be incorrect: Notifications extension has been changed recently to store all notifications between "Alerts" and "Notices". Messages are now split between these two entries. The icon is still confusing, but will be changed in the coming days.

Can you review your translations and ping me when it is done?

@Trizek (WMF): To me, translating "Notices" as "Notizen" seems quite misleading, because when I read "Deine Notizen" I think of something I have written myself or will write for myself. What is the problem with the translation "Mitteilungen"?

If the translation tool I use is correct, "Mitteilungen" means "message". "Notices" are not only grouping messages, but also page links, thanks or other notifications. And there is message notices in alerts.

Some other languages have translated "Notices" by an equivalent of "Notifications", "Announcements" or "Notes". What do you think of these options?

@Trizek (WMF): I think "message" is "Nachricht". "Mitteilungen" is "notifications".

Ok, bad translation tool :)

I've checked on three different dictionaries since, and, depending of the context, that may be understood as "Messages", "Notifications" or "communications". As far as you think people will not interpret it as a only-for-messages notifications, that's fine.

And what about the translation? If you can confirm to me that "Mitteilungen" is not only perceived as "Messages", that would reassure me :)

@Trizek (WMF): I think "Mitteilungen" is OK. At least better than "Notizen".
