Not a strict rule in English, see plenty of famous novelists.
What follows after the second colon in the following messages?

- MediaWiki:Debugtemplates-error-template-name/en
- MediaWiki:Debugtemplates-error-template-page/en
- MediaWiki:Debugtemplates-error-eval/en
- MediaWiki:Debugtemplates-error-arg-eval/en
At least in Spanish, you should not use two colons in the same sentence. A quick search on the Internet reveals that the same applies to English: one of the two should be replaced by a dash or a comma.
