[[Thread:Support/How can I start a new project?]]

Hello, are you still interested in this, is there any news?

Yes I am still interested in this. We have successfully started a Wikimedia Labs project for SignWriting. Our current project is the American Sign Language Wikipedia at http://ase.wikipedia.wmflabs.org

We are about to start translating the user interface for MediaWiki. We plan on using the data format called Formal SignWriting (FSW): a lite ASCII markup. This is well documented and follows Sematic Versioning (SemVer) for compatibility.

The other alternative is Character SignWriting (CSW): a Unicode PUA solution. This encoding is useful, but not meant for data storage.

The translations that we enter will not be useful without the correct plugin and the correct skin. This is a work in progress. We do not have all of the answers yet, but the data format is solid.
