User talk:Ergon

From translatewiki.net

Welcome to Betawiki!

Hi Ergon. Welcome to Betawiki. Before you can use Special:Translate, and Special:Magic, please request translator rights at Betawiki:Translators. Please create a user page on which you describe which language(s) you will be working on. If you are going to be an active user here, please also add your name to the languages you will be working on at Translating:Languages. For an overview of the languages that are being worked on here, you can have a look at Translating:Developer log. Other useful pages can be Support and Import requests.

Once you have started translating, please remember to often request a commit of your translation work at Translating:Tasks. This makes the number of changes easier to handle for the devs.

I wish you a productive and pleasant stay. Cheers! Meno25 15:59, 11 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

FreeCol vs. MediaWiki

Hi Ergon. Are you aware that you have been working on the open source game FreeCol instead of MediaWiki with your translations? Just checking :) Cheers! Siebrand 12:27, 14 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Siebrand. I got here from FreeCol, but I see that this is a nice tool for translations in general. The actual translation of MediaWiki looks very good made, so not much help needed there I suspect. It takes a while getting used with the system, and finding particular places to make translations, but I'll figure it out . :) I'll read a bit more about Media Wiki and what use can I have from it. Cheers! Ergon
P.S. Is there any other way to write messages to other users, or is this the way it's done?
Hi Ergon. Please see this page for 468 untranslated messages for the core MediaWiki interface for Albanian. 63 of those are from the top 500 most used messages. 1471 extension messages are yet to be translated.
As for the messaging: this is the way things are done on talk pages in wikis. If you have a need for more timely round tripes, you should log on to IRC where you can find us on the Freenode network in #mediawiki-i18n. Cheers! Siebrand 21:21, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Most often used core messages

Hi Ergon. I would like to ask your attention to the untranslated messages in the message group most often used core messages. These are the messages that are most important in giving users a basic localised experience. For Albanian, just a few are missing. Could you please concentrate your translation efforts first on that message group? Cheers! Siebrand 21:56, 9 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Reaching the target for MediaWiki most used core messages

Hi, Ergon.

As you probably know, in Betawiki, there is a group of MediaWiki messages considered essential for a minimum localization to any language. That group is called MediaWiki core message (most used). When a language reaches a translation level of at least 98% of these messages, it is considered to have the essential localization. As of end of March, there were 95 of the 311 languages at this level and it would be great to further increase that number. As Albanian is currently at 91.65%, very little effort would be needed to reach 98%, or even better, 100%. Therefore, I would like to invite you to complete the missing translations and make Albanian be part of the list of essentialy localized languages.

Thanks for your attention and best regards, Malafaya 00:25, 26 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
