[edit] The reason for localisation

Hi Codex Sinaiticus. Please understand that the whole point of localisation is to deliver an interface solely and purely for one (1) language entity. MediaWiki was designed to work in many languages. English, German, Lower Sorbian and Amharic are just four of them. You localise in exactly one (1) language. You do not localise messages bi-lingual. Please stop reverting change to 'am' messages that in the previous edit contained text in both 'am' and 'en' and now only contain 'am' content. Thank you, I am going to stop working on this project for the time being, I do not wish to have to fight and edit war with a non-Amharic speaker for every single change I make to the Amharic interface. Too bad that you choose to not take the opportunity to both learn more about localisation and bring the language you are capable of bringing to MediaWiki. Hi Codex Sinaiticus. As you appear to display some hostility[1] towards bots that are doing hard (and very useful) work, I thought I might give you some additional information. Fuzzybot comes in if source messages change, or if messages need to be updated for other reasons (because of not using PLURAL, or because of incompliant XHTML and some other cases). Reverting a "FUZZY" is not a good idea. You should thoroughly check the current translation to the source message. There is a 99% chance that it *actually does need updating*. Cheers! No, there is a 0% chance, because I already know all this, have checked it thoroughly, and there are no such issues with the specific message that it marked. The message you reverted was tagged yesterday and clarified a lot. As you have not made any change to the message, I seriously doubt your statement. Please realise that we try to improve localisations by doing this. Acting hostile toward automated or semi-automated processes is not really helpful in my opinion. Cheers! I am not a total idiot, of course I already know we are trying "to improve localisations"!!! But what makes it particularly difficult, frustrating and insulting is you seem to trust a robot over human beings who actually speak the language fluently. I now feel like I'm beating my head up against a brick wall because a robot is telling me my Amharic translation is wrong and then when the overly burocratic types tell me the robot is right and I am wrong, no amount of money is worth this shit. You have announced your leaving in anger before. I have no idea why it is that we seem to not be able to understand each other's good intensions. It makes me sad to read that you are leaving, but as I said before: you are making your own choices. I would rather have seen that you helped me to better help you. Cheers! Hello Codex Sinaiticus. Please do not leave this project, just because you do not understand what we want to say. Look, the English text of the message MediaWiki:Categoriespagetext was changed yesterday. We would like to have all translations to be updated with the new text. Because you translated that message somewhere in September, it is impossible that the translation is up to date. Please just take a look at the message definition above the edit field and compare it with your translation. Thank you very much, SPQRobin 16:02, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

I also wonder why all this hostility? It is against everything what we try to build here: a friendly community that encourages each other to do the hard and sometimes tedious translation task. I kindly ask you to take a step forward and try work out the misunderstandings with others instead of leaving with doors banging and creating friction to this community. We and everyone here is to help you to do your work. We are also translators and know what it is like. FuzzyBot is just a tool for us to save time. As you got, how should I put it, distracted a bit somewhere, I think it would be fair to offer you an extension of the term of two days, to the end of 9 March (which is 47 hours from now). Yes, thank you, that is most generous. I was indeed distracted with a cold for a few days, and when I was able to work, it made me especially cranky, but I am feeling better now and apologise for my crankiness.
