TTwiki

Hello! You wrote me about Tatar Wikipedia translation. I'm sorry, I'm a bit bussy for now, but of course later I'll make contributions. Thanks!--Рашат Якупов 13:03, 4 February 2010 (UTC)

Bot edit request

Hello, could you please help me using your bot to translate license messages? I would have to blow dust off my bot otherwise :)

The Slovak sentence should be in following form. Thank you in advance.

Tento súbor je licencovaný za podmienok [[{{int:wm-license-cc-wiki-link}}|Creative Commons]] [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/fr/deed.en Attribution 2.0 France].

In case there should be just "deed" instead of "deed.en", please do it also for messages I already translated.

Please contact User:Multichill. He's much more into that extension.

In the gadgets there is one whereby you can have translatewiki be from right to left. :)

For creating an alias for category namespace

Hi, After the release of Unicode 5.1.0 some of Malayalam characters facing two different encoding. Malayalam category namespace including one such character. Resolving a filed bug is time consuming process ;-). Is there any option in translate wiki to do this?

Our current category namespace is വര്‍ഗ്ഗം, we need an alias വർഗ്ഗം. According to unicode both are same. Please check http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/wiki/wikitech/184440 also. Thanks

Praveenp14:46, 25 January 2010

I think you mean Special:AdvancedTranslate, option "Namespace names"? It will take a while before those changes are processed. Please use Support for future queries. I was on holiday for a few days...

Siebrand19:05, 27 January 2010

Roan Kattouw created those aliases (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22286) after a tiny chat in tech channel. Happy Holidays

Praveenp02:04, 28 January 2010

I have reopened that issue. It was resolved in an inconsistent way.

List of extensions which are a little behind being completely translated

Hi Siebrand,

Is there a way to get a list of extensions which are 80-90% translated into Persian (or which need 10-20 messages to be translated to get complete), so I can deal with them?

Huji08:34, 23 January 2010

The language stats perform that function.. you can sort them at the top of the columns.

Some error in translatewiki?

Hi, I frequently get an error "ക്ഷമിക്കണം! (MediaWiki:Session fail preview) while editing messages. On second try to save it works as expected. Please check--Praveenp 01:53, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Praveenp01:53, 20 January 2010

Is this still the case now that we are using the new server? What browser and version are you using? Do you have the same problem if you are using a different (recent) browser version?

Siebrand15:46, 21 January 2010

Today I didn't face it yet. But on 20th January, I got it very frequently (almost when trying to save all edited messages). I didn't check it in browsers other than Firefox 3.5.7. When I got them, I lost patience and decided to report. Sorry

Praveenp23:55, 21 January 2010

No problem. I am using the same browser and do not recognise the issue. Would definitely need more specifics on the conditions surrounding the error to be able to look into it.

Speciaal:Misbruikfilter

Hallo Siebrand,

Siebrand01:10, 18 January 2010

Oke, hartelijk bedankt.

already… messages not committed

The messages already_bureaucrat/yi and already_sysop/yi do not get committed. Do you know why?

פוילישער13:52, 6 January 2010

You may have created pages for messages that are not part of any defined message group. We do not support the deprecated "MakeSysop" extension.

Siebrand14:00, 6 January 2010

I am a bit lost here. If the messages are deprecated, why does Wikipedia have default values for them, and where do these default values come from? Many thanks.

פוילישער19:11, 7 January 2010

Ask them. I/we are not Wikipedia.

StatusNet

Hello Siebrand. Could you tell me when the next release of StatusNet is scheduled for? I need this to know at what pace to make my Macedonian translation for it. The sooner it is, the less I will traslate other things, and finish StatusNet faster, because i have had some demand for it.

B. Jankuloski01:09, 7 January 2010

I do not know, but it can't be long. They are at 0.9 rc2. If and when I know, I will add it to the sitenotice.

Dubbele vertalingen

Edited by author

Hi,

deed.pt

The deed.en was actually on purpose, because deed.pt is actually in deed.pt-br. But never mind...

Which brings me to another issue: do you know if there are any plans for the creative commons site to be translated here? If not, how would one go about creating a pt-br in creative commons so we can actually have a pt-PT there?

Hamilton Abreu21:37, 3 January 2010

I have the answer to neither question, unfortunately. There has not been any contact with people from Creative Commons. Feel free to initiate it in our name and keep us updated.

Rally

Hello Siebrand. Now my name is on the list. I did translate many messages, but I did not put my name on the list because I thought that the really refers only to translations titled `MediaWiki` in the stats. The only one of that type that I did, had much less than 500 messages in it, even before the rally started. But if the rally refers to other things too, than the reward will be more than welcome. Thanks a lot :) --B. Jankuloski 12:53, 1 January 2010 (UTC)

Very nice surprise then :)

Rally count

Hi, Siebrand. Recently there have been made mass contributions (importing, converting etc.). I really appreciate it. That's a great job. What I want to know is whether these ~20 -~40 per minute contributions will be counted to the rally. If that's so, would mind informing me so that I can do my own commitments. Kind Regards

Hanberke17:42, 31 December 2009

See Translating:Offline.

Siebrand17:45, 31 December 2009

What about converting...

Hanberke18:23, 31 December 2009

At 18:15 31 December (UTC), Liangent has almost 50 contributions a minute. Is that also offline translation? or converting? or what? If that will counted, please inform me. It's a rally. I want to be sure of the things.

Hanberke18:28, 31 December 2009

Liangent's and Meno25's bot/script based conversions do not count in the rally, although they may be reported in the rally.

questino about translator support

new thread system look great, not familiar yet ;)

korean portal have [document] to introduce common or translatewiki-dependent translation issues. (do not care so much about pagename)

is there any existing way to notice this page to new members? this will be really helpful to prevent common accidents by new users.

thank you :)

ToePeu18:31, 23 December 2009

Not really. It should be in the manual pages somewhere, though. You can add references on the portal page.

Special Page aliasis

Hello, Siebrand! Long time no see.

I just updated some of the special page aliases for Persian (fa), and I wanted to request you to make sure these will be applied to the repository (because usually they don't get committed for a long time).

Thanks,

Huji04:12, 18 December 2009

Will be updated within a week.

Wayuu

Hi, Siebrand. I asked for permissions to translate from Spanish or English to Wayuu (guc) and got no answer yet. I also try to see the list of messages to translate and I get just an error message. Thanks for any help.

I guess everyone missed your reply. I'll take care of it.

To Run Bot

Hi, I wish to run a bot to fix some common spelling problems in Malayalam using pywikipedia bot. If possible please provide required changes to login and run the bot here, and please tell me how I can make that bot to edit only Malayalam (ml) messages. Thank you

Praveenp16:13, 6 December 2009

I can make you a list of 'ml' messages with namespace numbers. You'll have to convert those to full page names yourself. As for a bot, if you have experience running a bot, just let me know what the bot name will be (preferably PraveenpBot or BotPraveenp), I'll set the correct access rights. Best do that through Project:Translator.

Siebrand16:50, 6 December 2009

Hi, I created an account 'PravBot' for my bot. But I still dont know what I need to change to login and edit here. I am running a bot with same functionality in ml.wikipedia. Once I get the bot settings for translatewiki; I can request Bot status. Thankyou

Praveenp02:33, 8 December 2009

Thankyou for bot flag. Is there a namespace for 'ml' messages as said earlier??

Praveenp12:09, 8 December 2009

There is no namespace. 'ml' messages are in the namespace for the products the translations have been created in. As said, I'll make you a file that contains all "/ml" pages. See http://translatewiki.net/static/temp/ml.txt. First column is the namespace number.

I'm translating OSM website, and now it's 59% completed. when the changes will be uploaded? I want to see the usability of the interface!

I'll commit somewhere this weekend, but I do not know about the update frequency of the OSM site.
