Talysh Wikipedia Project's Name | 2 | 17:04, 20 May 2017 |
Talysh language | 1 | 17:02, 20 May 2017 |
portal:tly says Latin, but messages and Names.php use Cyrillic. CLDR only has the English name. According to w:en:Talysh language, Iran/Russia/Azerbaijan use different scripts for this language.
Cyrillic will be the only accepted script for now.
Hello Dear Admins, I would like to notify you that Talysh Wiki Project's name was icluded incorrectly. It was included as "толышә зывон" but it should be "Tolyši". Because we use latin script for Talysh Wiki, not cyrillic. Talysh readers also can read in latin, most of them cannot read cyrillic. How can we change it? I would kindly ask you to help us in this issue. Thank you very much! Jeyhun Heydar
Hello, if you mean the name of the wiki, i.e. the name shown in the title of the page by the browser and by {{SITENAME}}, you must follow this process to request its change: m:Requesting wiki configuration changes.
If you mean the name of the language (shown in the interwikis list, for instance), you most likely need to go via CLDR and I'll show you how if needed.
Nemo, Thank you very much for your answer. I mean, for ex. in these links, Talysh Language's name is written in cyrillic as "толышә зывон" but it should be in Latin as "Tolyši" cause we use Latin script for Talysh language and many talysh people cannot read cyrillic. We also write articles in latin script in wiki incubator. Here are links: http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Incubator:Main_Page http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/tly We would be very happy if you render assistance in this issue. Thank you very much!

Hello. I am writing to you with a problem related to Talysh language. I am translating Wikipedia Talysh in Cyrillic, but some users added translations into Latin in Talysh in Cyrillic. Could you add the possibility to transfer the Talysh in Latin script.
We don't enable scripts which are not recognised as being widely used for a certain language. According to https://www.ethnologue.com/language/tly the accepted scripts are Cyrillic and Arabic, so it's good to use Cyrillic but not to use Latin. Feel free to replace any Latin message with Cyrillic; if there is interest from translators we can add tly-arab as well.
Nowadays most messages in MediaWiki core are in Cyrillic, so I've updated portal:tly and I ask all translators to respect the script. I've also left a message at [1].
