maps with wrong licence displayed by #ask extension
All project pages for languages are displaying a worldwide map of contributors, using the "#ask:" special builting function. However, if the map is correctly attributed to OpenStreetMap, it displays an incorrect licence for "OpenStreetMap data" : CC-BY-SA (replaced several years ago) instead of the ODbL.
Actualyl the map does not display OpenStreetMap data directly but a map *rendered* from OpenStreetMap, using additional stylesheets, redering softwares, and servers to distribute tiles. These rendered "tiles" are effectively licenced under CC-BY-SA (but the condition does not come necessarily from OpenStreetMap, but from implementers of tile servers.
So I suggest to change the label to be more conforming to what is used on the OpenStreetMap site itself for its available maps, and to not misguide visitors.
If you use the Wikimedia tile servers instead of the OpenStreetMap tile servers, please refer to them to locate the appropriate attribution and licence terms. For now the indications are just incorrect, as people may think that all data displayed on the map from from OSM (this is not correct for the data locating users on the map, and which uses translatewiki.net own's resources) or that OSM data is licenced under CC-BY-SA (which it is not!).
For this reason, I also suggest to change the target of the link to a local HTML or wiki page on translatewiki.net, that will detail the conditions and will link to the appropriate data sources or service providers and their own licencing terms. Verdy p (talk) 19:37, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
