I've pinged the people designing the messages for the UI so that they can chime in about this. I've written the concerns about the message on a trello card.

HI- Sorry for the long delay! In the interim, we put a notice to not translate the text in the Gather extension, but I am compiling a list of strings that need work starting with this one: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T93817
