Add gender support to [[MediaWiki:Notification-link-text-respond-to-user/en]]

Hello, I was wondering how can I add extra parameters to a template. For example, I have a template that uses $1 and $2 in English and I would like to add $3 when translating the template to French.

What templates are you talking about? In messages, you can't use parameters which don't exist.

Any template used for any project. Yeah I do realize that. Is there a way to overcome that or must the original templates be modified?

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "templates". Can you please provide examples?

Sorry I meant messages. Here is a message for example in English and I would like to adjust it according to the gender of the user: "Respond to user‎". The problem is that the message uses no parameters. Should the original English message be modified?

Do you mean MediaWiki:Notification-link-text-respond-to-user/en? As I believe Gender explains, when you find a message which needs gender support but doesn't have it, just click "ask question" and say so. If that's the message, I'll turn this thread in a request for gender support. Thanks.

Thanks Nemo I think this is what I'm looking for.
