Yes indeed, but a closer look at the translatinos of message MediaWiki:Bw-sidebar-portal lets me doubt, it can be done this way. There are dynamic references, {{#languagename: {{UILANGCODE}} }}, which most likely will be parsed to something undesired in the context of the special page, I'm afraid.

The documentation says clearly not to use {{UILANGCODE there.
