Where did all the Greek translators come from?

Fragment of a discussion from User talk:FocalPoint

Well, we celebrated 10 years for the first edit in el.wiki on 1st December 2002. I hope this will be a good opportunity for an editathon.

Small spoiler: There will be an end of the year translation rally. You'll be encouraged to make 500 or more contributions in the last 9 days of the year to share in a bounty. If you can make some publicity then, and get for example 15 Greek translators to qualify, you'll have translated all of MediaWiki and all extensions used by Wikimedia. Shared burdens can be fairly light :).

The publicity was made on the central announcement hub of el.wikipedia village pump here on 22th December. Due to personal obligations I couldn't make it to participate on Translation Rally.

Happy new year

No problem. Have a private translation rally whenever you like! There are still 27,000 or so untranslated strings for Greek.
