Hi Michael. Could you please export the FreeCol for language nl? I have almost completely redone it. To be frank: the old version really, really sucked. Both spelling, grammer and translation has been greatly improved. Cheers! Siebrand 13:39, 31 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'll do that. Burschik 14:20, 31 August 2007 (UTC) Done. Burschik 07:52, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Looks like you can add a supported language. A lot of work has been done on FreeCol for nds. Cheers! Siebrand 21:31, 1 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the pointer. Is there an easy way to determine all languages which have been modified? Burschik 07:52, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not really. You could ask Nike to write some stuff in Special:RecentChanges to show changes to a particular message group... Cheers! Siebrand 11:03, 2 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Moin Burschik, I'm now done with the Low Saxon (nds:; Plattdüütsch) translation. Would be great, if you could

export the messages to create the localization file. I don't know how that stuff is handled by FreeCol, are there specific release dates at which an additional translation will go into the official package? Would be really nice, if you could provide me the created localization file, so I can have tests at my own installation. It's sometimes hard to see, whether or not a translation doe work and is useful, when you don't see it in the live program ;-) Some work still has to be done, I guess. --Slomox 12:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I did not see this earlier, but nds is already in 0.7.2. Burschik 08:15, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. But it's as of September 19, so my last translated messages are not part of it. Can I find a message file containing the most recent translations too in SVN? And when yes, where? The installation routine seems to not being part of the translation, is it possible to translate it too? And the intro uses English text. Is it localizable? And last but not least, the language name is Plattdüütsch. In the selection menu for language you have to look for nds at the moment, which is not ideal. By the way, is there any system in the order, in which the languages are shown? --Slomox 14:07, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I opened the message file now and found the export link. So my first question is obsolete now ;-) I will not use Betawiki for further changes. Message corrections are hard on Betawiki cause you have to know the message names to find the messages. I will do further changes directly on the message file. If I'm done with my changes, where can I submit the file? --Slomox 14:24, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
You can send your translation directly to me, or to the translators mailing list. Burschik 04:40, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Siebrand/status

Hi Michael. I have created an overview of all messages that are different from the ones in the message files on User:Siebrand/status. If you have exported FreeCol translations, please also arrange with Nike that the exported files are placed back on the server. Thanks. Cheers! Siebrand 12:04, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the overview page. I never knew we had an Arabic translation! I have exported a few languages from betawiki to SVN. Why should they be placed back on the server? They haven't changed in the repository. Burschik 15:44, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Once you have committed a language to the FreeCol repo, please also put the svn version back on the Betawiki server is what I meant. That way translators get a clear overview of the translation status... :) Cheers! Siebrand 16:49, 8 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Is there any chance of making this feature available on an admin page, so that I can trigger the update myself? Burschik 07:11, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am not a server operator, so you have to ask Nike if there is a way he can facilite it... Siebrand 08:08, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I'll do that then. Burschik 08:26, 15 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Update to pt

Hi, Burschik. I translated a few messages for FreeCol in pt (Portuguese). If you'd like to update them, please go ahead. Cheers, Malafaya 16:35, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, I'll do that. Burschik 17:22, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I corrected a lot of translations in pt (Portuguese (Portugal)) as we settled (not pt-pt). If you wish, you can commit these changes to SVN. Regards, Malafaya 23:10, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Greetings

How will enter also Greek in the list of languages in FreeCol? --Consta 16:22, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but I am not an expert on the operation of this wiki. I thought you simply selected the language and started translating. If not, please contact one of the site administrators. Burschik 08:49, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Email?

Hi Michael,

could you please add an email address to your user account and confirm it? Then we can leave you notes while you are away, as you are coordinator of a localisation project... Cheers! Siebrand 21:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Email?

Hi Michael,

could you please add an email address to your user account and confirm it in Special:Preferences (it will stay hidden from users)? Then we can leave you notes while you are away, as you are coordinator of a localisation project... Cheers! Siebrand 21:51, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I did not reply earlier. I am confused! My correct email address is already visible in my preferences, and as far as I remember it always has been! During a short period in the past, it was possible to see the changes to all FreeCol translations on one page. This page does not seem to exist anymore. Is there any other possibility of seeing such an overview? Burschik 08:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
You could try something on Special:TranslationChanges. In the last month edit to FreeCol for the following languages have been made: 'ar, el, fi, fr, nl-be, pl, ru, sq, sv, tr' Cheers! Siebrand 09:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the information. Do you have my email address now, or is there something I need to do? Burschik 12:57, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

nl vs. nl-be

Why has Flemish (i.e. Dutch spoken in Belgium) its own translations? This is a bit ridiculous, because there aren't any differences. I'd just redirect from "nl-be" to "nl". Now it only asks the same work twice... Greetings, SPQRobin 19:10, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

In the past, two people worked on the Dutch translation, one from Belgium, the other one from the Netherlands. So the two translations weren't always the same. Burschik 15:52, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Southern Sami

Hi! are the OK at starting Southern Sami translation of FreeCol. Max sonnelid 11:57, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Now I start the translation. M.M.S. 13:41, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Esperanto translation of FreeCol

Just FYI, I started translating the Esperanto (eo) interface of FreeCol today. I am an admin on the Esperanto Wikipedia. If there is anything I can do for you in the "world of Esperanto" please let me know! -- Yekrats 19:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Esperanto will be the first artificial language localization. Burschik 15:52, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Freecol contributions in the past 90 days

Hi Michael,

Freecol had contributions for the following languages in the past 90 days: 'ar, br, cs, de, el, eo, fi, fr, gl, is, it, km, li, lt, nds, nl, nl-be, no, oc, pl, pms, ps, pt, ru, sma, sq, sv, tr, uk, vo'. Cheers! Siebrand 16:23, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the information! Burschik 14:46, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Norwegian (Bokmål)

Hi! I’ve started translating FreeCol into Norwegian (Bokmål). It uses the code no here in Betawiki, but that is the wrong code (used for historical reasons related to the URL of the Norwegian Wikipedia). Long story short, the code used in FreeCol should be nb. (Oh, and I’m not done with it yet – I still have around 1000 messages left, but will get done with it when I have time.) :-) Jon Harald Søby 14:57, 18 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the information. We will be sure to include your translation in the next release. Burschik 07:10, 11 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Grants for translation FreeCol

Could you give me the grant to translate FreeCol texts? Mayday 13:55, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for not responding earlier, but I do not log in to Betawiki every day. If you need my immediate attention, please send me an email. I see that someone else has granted you translator privileges, however. Regards Burschik 14:41, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
