Fallbacks in Chinese languages: not everything has to be translated.

Jump to: navigation, search

Hi. Please mind that not all Chinese variants have to be translated. If the translation would be equal to that in the fallback language, please do not translate it.

  • zh-tw falls back to zh-hant
  • zh-cn falls back to zh-hans
  • zh-hk falls back to zh-hant
  • zh falls back zo zh-hans

Usually only zh-hans and zh-hant have to be completed. Saves you a lot of work. Best advice: get Traditional and Simplified complete first, then update in the other codes what differs.

Please elaborate on the technical background. Why is there a *need* to have the localisations translated that fall back to an identical translation?
