Why am I suddenly getting notifications for every new thread here? And how can I switch it off????

- Mark all new messages as read.
- Remove all threads from watchlist.
- Special:Preferences → Section „Watchlist“ (or your preferred language) → Uncheck „Watch threads that I create or reply to“ → Save
Done.
Just strange that I’ve only started getting these in the last 36 hours.

A default preference was changed, so that for instance translators receive a notification when their access request is handled. What do you mean "every new thread", were they threads you hadn't created or replied to?
I verified that the feature has (again) a bug (bugzilla:39513); the configuration change has been reverted. If you want to receive email notifications for all threads/discussions you create or watch, you can enable the preference, but remember to unwatch very trafficked talk pages such as Support.
