I wanted to communicate translators the new uselang=qqx trick but I didn't know how. I added a section to mw:Localisation#Translation_resources because that page is linked from Special:AllMessages, but it's a bit confusing that we link a page designed for coders. At least, I propose to link directly to this section.

Please don't. Too technical and confusing for the regular translator.

What? mw:Localisation is already linked from Special:AllMessages, I'm suggesting to reduce their exposure to too technical and confusing things.

An FAQ written. Rewriting and extending our help pages is a long-outstanding issue.

Thanks (although I'm currently getting an error 500 on that page); what should we do then, link FAQ from Special:AllMessages instead of mw:Localisation?

Best to leave the links on Special:AllMessages as they are I'd have thought. Writing custom help pages for translators on translatewiki.net is I think the best.

I think, it would be a good start to make an index or overview of the intro/help/how-to/documentation pages that we need to have. The current structure has grown in an undesired and confusing way. A fresh beginning is imho the best way to go. Portions of the existing pages can be migrated when a new structure is there. Most notably, product specific parts must be completely moved to product specific pages with overlapping information being on common pages or being included. Also, non-general pages / sections should be marked, indicating what they apply to, see sample marking template.

I'm not so sure about the fresh beginning, but an index is, I think, a very good starting point for improving the help pages. I have started drafting one here, which you are welcome to work on there or copy over to a different draft, as I don't have much time to spare at the moment. The list as yet is not complete and it hasn't been organised into sections, but it's a start.
