Adding a new language, ISO 639-3: yoi (Request)
Hello,
Is it possible to add the Yonaguni language? I've been working on Yonaguni Wikimedia Incubator, and I hope that the language can also be added here. Thank you in advance!
ISO 639-3: yoi
Yonaguni language - 与那国物言、どぅなんむぬい、ドゥナンムヌイ (yoi)
Directionality: LTR
Script: Kanji and Hiragana mixed script, Hiragana only or Katakana only
Fallback language: Standard Japanese (ja)
You can already register yourself on your user page (add "yoi" to the "#babel" box with the language level indicator) and as a candidate translator on Portal:yoi/translators.
The portal:yoi is already created and should be properly categorized, but it still marked disabled, until a site admin hors your request. Don't remove the disabled status on the portal page as it won't have any effect on translations except removing the banner itself, and the link to translate it will not work properly
If needed you can still create information subpages in the portal and use its talk page for your translation project (e.g. to discuss terminologies or conventions used)
(when the language has been effectively enabled, you'll see that Special:ActiveLanguages/yoi no longer displays that the error message at bottom saying it is unknown or unsupported; when this is done, the portal may be updated to remove the "disabled" banner and to enable the translation link).
Can you please choose one name for the language? I need to configure a single name to display. It's possible to define the other names as aliases for searching, but one preferred name must be chosen.
Also, are there any other websites or books in this language?
The name is 与那国物言, you can remove Ruby (small Kana) if necessary.
There are plenty of books, mostly research publications and teaching materials like textbooks or dictionaries. As far as I know, there is only one book written in the language. Feel free to check the booklist here.
For websites, unfortunately there's none. I've seen people, including me, blogging in this language, but I am not going to count them here.
This is now deployed!
I've also put a list of useful links on your user page. Go through that list from top to bottom.
Good luck! :)
