Please do not delete support requests. It is fine to close them with a reference to the request they duplicate. If deleted, my links to them become useless, because I cannot read them any more. So I am unable to track them.
Usually I close. I delete only exact duplicates, because watchers of translating:pywikibot etc. are annoyed by duplicate notifications when the threads are moved. Sometimes I forgot to delete the corresponding Summary page, so there were red links in user:purodha etc.: is that what you are talking about? Sorry.
